I believe that the reason why we are performing so well now is because so many players rejected the Olympics like Miikka Kiprusoff.

We suddenly became a serious underdog and nobody expected nothing from Team Finland. Now players are performing better than ever before.

It's been years and years since I last saw Selänne play as well as he is playing right now.
And Antero Niittymäki has been simply phenomenal.

You're probably right yes.

It is amazing to see him fly over the ice like he is now. Finnish Flash or Flying Finn or whatever but he's on fire right now. Last time I think he was playing on this high a level for Finland was in the Winter Olympics in Nagano back in 1998.

Watched the game. It was a great game and so relaxing to watch since I didn´t support any of them.
Agree that Niittymäki was excellent and Selänne as well! Selänne is a great looking Finn btw.

Sweden- Canada in the womens final: 1-4

There was never any doubt that Canada would win. The question was whether we could put up a fight. And I think we did in the last third anyway.
We actutally put pressure on Canada, scored and stopped Wickenheiser from scoring.

The trend is that Sweden (women) does better and better in the Olympics and that would mean gold next time!!!

Finland vs USA in men's hockey quarterfinals in one hour.

"Do you believe in miracles? Yes!"

That's what it's going to take for the American team to beat the Finnish team.

Canada vs Russia still to come.

Great day for Sweden in the olympics!!!
  • Gold and bronze in men´s cross country sprint!!!
  • Gold in womens slalom (Anja of course!)!!!
  • We won the semi final in women´s curling and are now going for gold!!!
  • And ice hockey Sweden- Switzerland 6-2. We´re in the semi final!!

Today I also saw an interview with a Norweigan ski jumper who was afraid of heights .
He said that some/many (I don´t remember) ski jumpers get addicted to the adrenalin rush they get when they "fly". And that those ski jumpers tend to seek that "kick" elsewhere as well. For instance in drugs.
I can see a point there. Like mountains climbers (and other extreme sports) ordinary life often is out of the question. It´s sad though. I come to think about Matti Nyykänen ( spelling is probably wrong ) But in his case it was alcohol wasn´t it?

Well, it sure was close. Holy shit what a game! Niittymäki really saved us in the third period. The guy was like a wall.

Overall the worst game for us so far. We have to improve our game if we are gonna win over Canada/Russia in the semis.

Damn lucky Finnish curlers sneaked past the Scottish (or GB) team by the last stone on the last end.

Grudgenly - Nice shot.

Ah well we might have a chance at Bronze.

Yeah, we are in the finals!
Markku Uusipaavalniemi is God!

Oh and the worst hockey match award goes to the Swedish team for their deliberate performance in the match against Slovakia. I've never seen players want defeat more than those guys did in that game.

There was a lot of discussion about that in the medias here in Sweden. It sure looked lame. But then again, when our NHL-stars get the yellow and blue sweater on they seldom perform as good as they do in NHL. As you could see in the game vs Russia they really sucked. I just hope they didn´t lose the game deliberately. That´s shameful thing to do.

When the coach says before the game that "It's better if we lose."
Then there really isn't much discussion left about the subject of losing deliberately.

Slovakia's players were really pissed at the Swedish players. Slovakia even got a two man breakaway but just started messing around with the Swedish guys and didn't want to score.

Then again I'm quite disappointed at Slovakia's performance against "big brother" Czech Republic. How can you lose suddenly to a team such as the very badly performing Czech when you've got 5 straight wins before that game...

Kolzig, you might be right. Finland will probably win in the end anyway. With some luck we´ll play in the final vs you. A good old Ruotsi- Suomi fight. We used to win those, but in the last years you´ve beaten us all the time.
But I have to cheer now!! Yaaaaay!!!
Swedish women curling team Norberg are World champions, European champions, Swedish champions (of course) and now they´re Olympic champions!!!!
The game was a thriller with a tie at the 10th round. It was uncertain until the very last stone.

That remains to be seen. Russia is probably the worst possible team for us to meet in the semis. Canada would surely have been an easier team to beat. Well, if we play like before the USA game, we can beat anyone, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best.

And I would also like to see a final between Finland and Sweden. Not because they're the two best teams in the tournament, but because it's a legendary fight between two loving neighbours.*

*And also because we without a doubt would win over you this time.

Yeah, I'm not sure who will win tomorrow. All I know is that one of them is going to get the gold, because Sweden and Czech aren't as good.

Damn Pat Quinn.....damn Gretzky...

Maybe next time he'll learn and send some young blood instead of those good for nothings who went. The only worth sending was the goalie...
