I was wondering if I could slip that post by you.

I'm still looking for a cat to gut. I need new strings...

The first adventure game I ever played (which I still LOVE to this day..) was Ween: The Prophecy.

Another one I played right around that time was called Shadow Gate, on the original nintendo.

Great games.

Great games.
The Prophecy was a special game and I own a boxed copy to this day. I loved the little fruit bat. I may play it again on my slower system.

First adventure game, Blue Force, though finished it much later. First one that I managed to complete was Fate of Atlantis, which was the 2nd one that I played

first adventure i played was leisure suit larry at my dad's work. he had some other business to intend to so he just loaded it up on the computer and left me there. didn't get far enough to understand the hidden meaning in his action, *whispers* use a condom. the only thing i remember is the cab part.
i was like 5.
but i suppose the first adventure that i actually "played" was indiana jones and the last crusade on our 286. the first adventures that had decent sounds (neighbor's sound blaster) were monkey island 2 and willy beamish

Default The Hobbit

The first one I remember playing was The Hobbit on the ZX Spectrum (previously mentioned with some good links earlier). I probably played some earlier pure-text ones that we typed in from magazines. To be honest we were more interested in seeing if we could actually get those typed-in programs running than playing them. Geeky or what!

Default What was the very 1st adventure game you had played?

It was LSL5. My big brother saw the game box in a game store and he got all excited and bought it.

When he launched it, I got hooked instantly and that's how I became an adventure game fan

A text adventure written in Basic on my old Amstrad 128k, 8bit machine ca. 1987, when I was about 7-8 years old. Hehe, I've written some very, very, VERY basic ones by myself back then. And along came the mighty Maniac Mansion. What an amazing game.

SQ3 for me. Still one of the best adventures out there, and that's not viewed through rose-tinted shades. Such a wealth of gameplay in that title, brilliant humour and fantastic animation for the time. The game map still frustrates with its expanse, but it's a real fine piece of design and actually quite epic for its day.

The first one was on my Amstrad CPC, it was a text adventure (in French) with graphics where you were Ulysses. Never heard of this game ever since.
And SRAM!

Myst, in 1994, on a Macintosh IIvx (quite possibly the worst Mac ever made, but hey, it did the job), at a friend's house on Liberty Street in Savannah, GA. It was as if Cyan had made that game just for me personally, and from that moment on, I was hooked.

Maybe it was really the case, because it wasn't made for me, that's for sure

Well, I'm a gay, Mac-using, redneck, auto mechanic adventure game fan who prefers first-person games with lonely settings, so I represent a whopping .0000?% of the population as a whole. Deep left field is my natural environment on most issues.
Still, it was mighty nice of Cyan to make a game just for me.
