The Battle of Robot Bill in The Neverhood stands out to me...

Making Lucifer cry in KQ6 was pretty powerful at the time...

And finally getting up the bloody stairs/whale's mouth in KQ4 was memorable if only because it took so damned long.

On the Lucasarts side of things I'd have to say the classical music coupled with bunnies and a minefield is total classic adventure gaming in full throttle. And Murray the skull as a character has a soft place in my heart.

A close second (if all those count as #1) could easily be dying from an STD in LL1 only to go into a sierra manufacturing line churning out King Grahams and other various characters to replace the hundreds of dying ones (presumably) in the world above

you know, reading peoples comments about Sanitarium brought back memories of Harvester.

Then I realized.. man, I NEVER see that game on review lists (I just checked JA and saw a review there, they hated it). I remember it fairly vividly though, especially the 2 endings. There were some truly screwed up individuals living in that world (could have done without the bloody (no pun intended) lodge though).

Yeah, I've still been playing this game from time to time for the last couple of months (haven't gotten very far), but the intro to The Longest Journey was flat-out amazing. I don't care if the rest of the game turns out to be terrible, that's possibly the best intro of all time.

Yeah, Harvester was pretty sick but sick in a good way

And IMHO, the Tex Murphy games have the best intro's. Long and entertaining!

Great intro's:

Toonstruck
Tex Murphy Series
King's Quest VI
Monkey Island 3

Great non-adventure intro's:
Syndicate
Wing Commander Series
Megarace
Diablo 2
Dragon's Lore

Probably forgot some

Fallout.

Seriously, I think Fallout has one of the best game intros I've seen... if not *the* best.

Anyhoo, back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Glad I did a few searches and found this thread...

I've been thinking about memorable moments from adv games that really stuck with me emotionally:

The Lost Crown - this game is full of them; aside from all the creepy moments, what I loved the most was when you're in the caves and
Spoiler:
the woman's spirit appears through the nightvision.
The music and emotion really made me think, "Wow, I absolutely love this game."

The Last Express - The ending.
Spoiler:
It's really melancholy and sort of a downer knowing that the war is beginning as Anna splits from Robert.

Gabriel Knight - I could do a thread on these games alone, but I'll pick a moment from each game:

GK1 -
Spoiler:
Wolfgang's sacrifice

GK2 - The ending. Just the whole full circle of the story and the music as Grace and Leber
Spoiler:
watch von Glower burn.
Really powerful.

GK3 - Again, the ending. Mainly when Grace realizes Emilio
Spoiler:
is the Wandering Jew, and he leaves her.
That part is just sad because of you know what Grace is going to do.

What stands out for me is the beginning scene of TLJ. Why? Because it was the first game that really got be hooked on adventure games. =]
