‘Tis the season for Miss Clue: Christmas at Donner Pass

The yuletide season may have been more than a month ago, but Christmas at Donner Pass is just arriving in the sixth Miss Clue: Jane Austen Mysteries adventure available now for download.

This time out, Jane Darcy has been "invited by her friend Loretta Winfield to spend Christmas with her family in their new nineteenth century mansion, located on Donner Pass Road." Naturally, this will turn out to be no relaxing vacation, as Jane soon discovers "on an unsettling adventure from the train station, to the doorstep of a haunted homestead." Rumours of unexplained phenomena abound, so it'll be up to the intrepid young sleuth to determine whether there's any truth to the stories, or whether they're "mere fabrications dreamt up by the locals."

While the first five Miss Clue adventures have been strictly 2D slideshow affairs, Christmas at Donner Pass is the first game in the series to be designed in 3D, which allows for three different control schemes. Along with the usual static node-based method, players can instead choose a 3D point-and-click option or full free-roaming navigation. Either way, gameplay will once again comprise typical detective-style investigation, as you interview people, scour the environment for clues, and solve a variety of puzzles as you begin to unravel the mystery behind "events that have haunted generations of the Reed Family since they first came to the Pass on that fateful Christmas so long ago."

As with the other games in the franchise, Miss Clue: Jane Austen Mysteries – Christmas at Donner Pass is available for download from the official website, currenly only for Windows but with a Mac version due out February 27th.
