Amazon Queen readying to make its return

It's said that good things come to those that wait, and that certainly seems to be true where Flight of the Amazon Queen is concerned. First the 1995 point-and-click adventure was declared legal freeware, then it was updated for a 25th anniversary rerelease, and now it appears the game will finally be getting a sequel in the form of Return of the Amazon Queen.

While plot details are sparse, the new game once again stars Joe King, who is hired by a "shadowy organization" to "travel the world in his trusty plane, the Amazon Queen, in search of lost relics that hold a long forgotten secret." As you "explore exotic locations, meet interesting characters and solve puzzles" along the way, you'll come to discover that this is no mere treasure hunt, as in the process you also "uncover a mystery that could threaten the world."

With a fresh variety of high-resolution places to visit in an all-new storyline, Return of the Amazon Queen seeks to present an experience "made for the modern adventure game audience while still retaining the stuff you love about the original." Along with the protagonist you'll neet some familiar faces in your travels, but also plenty of new ones in a point-and-click sequel that promises to be "brimming with fun-filled action."

There is currently no target release date for this game, but you can follow its progress by signing up for a newsletter at the official website.
