Classic Point-and-Click: Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard

Adventure game fans, get ready for Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard, a retro-inspired point-and-click adventure game set to release around Christmas 2022. Developed by solo developer Hans Klöpfel, Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard takes players on a journey through the animal kingdom of Velehill, where strange shadows and mysterious disappearances have occurred.

Players will join Finn, a young roebuck, and his friend Gwen the owl as they set out to uncover the dark secret behind these occurrences. Along the way, they will explore mysterious lands, solve inventory-based puzzles, and deal with all kinds of dangers. The game features hand-drawn landscapes, cinematic cutscenes, and an atmospheric soundtrack inspired by classic midi music.

Inspired by classic LucasArts adventure games and reminiscent of a long-forgotten animated movie, Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard boasts a variety of individual frame-by-frame animations, close-ups, and animated cutscenes. The gameplay focuses on exploring mysterious lands, uncovering secrets, and dealing with dangerous situations, and even allows players to die in all kinds of crazy ways - a throwback to Sierra games like King's Quest.

The game was funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign and is set to release on Steam and GOG just in time for the holidays. Beyond the Edge of Owlsgard will be available on Windows and Linux, with the possibility of console ports after release. It will also be available in both German and English, with consideration for additional translations after release. The game is estimated to have 6 to 8 hours of gameplay.

Keep an eye out for more information on this exciting new adventure game as we get closer to the release date.
