Dreamsettler to become reality soon on PC and consoles.

Hypnospace Outlaw took the gaming world by storm in 2019, particularly among those who grew up with the burgeoning internet in the 1990s. For an encore, developers Tendershoot and Noble Robot have set the calendar a few years ahead for a spiritual sequel called Dreamsettler.

As with its predecessor, Dreamsettler puts players in the first-person role of a "digital private eye" who must scour an alternate-reality version of the internet that people browse in their dreams while sleeping, this time circa 2003. You'll start out with "little more than a bare-bones Dreamsettler template page" and are free to enjoy all the benefits the Somnius Sleepnet has to offer, but soon you'll begin "receiving emails from users who need your aid," and as the stakes ramp up, eventually you'll find yourself "caught up in a plot that will determine the very future of Sleepnet and sleeptime computing at large."

The game will be filled with "countless pages" meant to simulate our own internet of the early 2000s in an amusing but delightfully realistic way. As you surf the web and encounter a "strange and endearing cast of characters" along the way, you can choose to "make friends, or enemies, among your DreamSettler peers and the powers that be across Sleepnet." You're welcome to customize your personal desktop and online home page as you see fit, and are encouraged to spend much of your time "downloading apps, games, videos, images and music that should raise your profile." Just remember that as a Sleepnet Private Investigator you have a job to do, ranging from "hunting down elusive soup recipes to unearthing global conspiracies."

There is no target release date just yet, but Dreamsettler is listed as "coming soon" on Steam for Windows PC, with as-yet-unannounced console versions planned as well.
