From Lex to Rex being teed up on Windows PC

Normally when we're hungry we just make a beeline for the fridge, but for the protagonist of Jorge Montolío's newly released From Lex to Rex, satisfying those stomach pangs and stopping the growling for good means storming the castle and trying to become king.

Players control Lex, a young medieval commoner who is fed up with being hungry all the time. Rather than just scrounging for his next meal, this time Lex decides to rectify the situation once and for all by taking over the castle and claiming the crown (and all its attendant feasts) for himself. This will be no small feat, however, as an abundance of comically unexpected obstacles stand in the way, including "a hysterical chef, a princess looking for a prince, a strange curse and much more."

Montolío's solo creation is a retro-styled pixel art adventure inspired by the genre classics. As the protagonist moves from room to room via simple point-and-click mechanics, each new location presents its own "peculiar characters from medieval royalty" to interact with, inventory items to collect, and "not-so-easy puzzles" to solve along the way. The tone is entirely tongue-in-cheek (and hopefully food-in-cheek), so players can expect plenty of "laughs, logical nonsense, pop culture references," and fourth-wall breaking in the quest to fill their bellies. Just be prepared to "go straight to plan B" when everything falls apart, even if it means befriending a pig to help "make your way to the top."

Hopefully you've recovered from your holiday gluttony and are ready for some adventuring, as From Lex to Rex is available now on Steam for Windows PC.
