Unsolved Crimes to be investigated on DS

Apparently gamers aren't the only ones noticing the potential for detective-based mysteries on the Nintendo DS. Following the success of the Ace Attorney series and other titles like Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and CSI: Dark Motives, soon Empire Interactive will be following suit with the worldwide release of Unsolved Crimes.

The game is set in a stylized 1970s New York and casts players in the role of a young rookie homicide detective, whose main task is to solve the kidnapping case of an aspiring model. Along the way, however, players will also need to solve an additional eight independent cases.

Making use of the unique DS features by allowing players to "trace marks, routes and memos on suspicious items discovered at crime scenes", gameplay will consist of traditional criminal investigation such as scouring crime scenes and talking to other characters, along with a variety of logic puzzles. There will also be five "action games" that pertain to the kidnapping storyline, though the nature and extent of these activities have not yet been revealed.

Empire has worldwide publishing rights for the game, excluding Asia, and aims to release the game at an unspecified time later this year.
