Heart of Osiris beats a path to UK
Waiting on German games to come out in English is becoming a regular pastime for adventure fans, but the end is in sight for one of them, as Xider announced today that Ankh: Heart of Osiris will release in the UK for £19.99 this April 27th.
The new comic adventure from Deck 13 is a pseudo-sequel of the original Ankh released last year, returning players to the stylized lands of ancient Egypt and familiar characters like Assil, Thara, and the Pharaoh. This time around, all three will be playable characters at times as you explore the "sensual bazaars, subterranean temple and dark alleys of Cairo."
Having foiled Osiris, the God of the Underworld, from acquiring an important Ankh in the first game, "Assil has now woken up in the dingy back streets of Cairo with a blinding hangover only to discover the Ankh is missing! With no time to lose, Assil must recover the Ankh and ensure that it doesn’t fall into the hands of Osiris." Predictably, retrieving the Ankh presents an adventure full of zany scenarios and humourous characters.
One interesting feature of the release will be the inclusion of a codewheel. A concept surely familiar to longtime adventurers, the codewheel not only serves as a copy protection device, but is incorporated into the game to solve a specific puzzle.
The publisher name will be new to many, but but they're no strangers to the genre, as Xider is a new label of bhv Software, the publisher of the original Ankh. Xider will also be bringing boxed versions of the Bone games to the UK in coming months.
