I played KQ1 on an 8088 back in 1983. The media was 5.25” disks, and there was some stupid form of copy protection that annoyed the hell out of me. I had an 8” RGB monitor. I was 36 at the time, but I can’t consider myself a late starter because there weren’t very many, if any, true graphical adventures available before then.

Another thought: 1983, March 11th to be exact, is when I met Sue. Three years later on March 11, 1986 we got married on Kauai.

So 1983 is when I played my first adventure game, and met my wife to be. On March 11, 2016 we celebrate our 30-year anniversary. And I’m still playing a game or two.

That’s a great story of love and adventure game love right there Smile Congrats on your anniversary!

I’m an octogenarian and still playing, although a bit slow these days. They say it keeps the mind active - - perhaps.

http://www.en.kolobok.us/smiles/icq/hi.gif for all great gamers above 60, here, you guys are astonishing .

Sorry for not including 70+ at the poll, i could not even add it now as polls get locked up once they are done, sorry again, mybad if anyone out there could not find a proper choice given for his/her own Frown

TimovieMan could probably add a 70+ slot for you. There are currently only ten slots, so the poll does have room for one more.

Done.

Who (besides sarahandus) needs to switch from 60-69 to 70+?

Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka

Adventure game wise?

LSL 1 and then The Last Crusade would be the two that spring to mind.

I had been playing Rich Diamond and Valhalla Classics games and wanted something more of a adventure. Went into a store asking for adventure game, the clerk handed me Myst Masterpiece. I was hooked!

Fortunately I have kept WinXP and can still play some of those oldies since there hasn’t been many new games I care for. Playing mostly casual games now days.
