Any of Telltale’s earlier adventure games—
Bone
Wallace & Gromit
Back to the Future
Tales of Monkey Island
Sam & Max

Tales of Monkey Island is currently on sale at GOG at 90% off
http://www.gog.com/game/tales_of_monkey_island

Back to the Future is 85% off
http://www.gog.com/game/back_to_the_future_the_game

Sam & Max Seasons are 60% off
http://www.gog.com/game/sam_max_beyond_time_and_space
http://www.gog.com/game/sam_max_save_the_world
http://www.gog.com/game/sam_max_the_devils_playhouse

And all the games are available through Steam if you prefer Steam.
Most hard copy versions will use online activation, so aren’t any better than Steam unless your bandwidth is limited.
The GOG versions won’t require activation.

Exactly.

Nothing wrong with “choose your own story”/choice-based games if that’s what you want, but gameplay is different and “choice-based” is nothing like the Emerald City Confidential and Ceville games that qmuddy2 mentioned.

I don’t think the Sam & Max games were easy. They weren’t overly difficult but they’re not what pops up into my head when I think “easy”.

The Blackwell series has a pretty good story and wasn’t overly taxing.

You might try Syberia. It’s a classic game. Its linearity makes it easy to tell what to do next, and most of the puzzles are straightforward.

I’d also recommend The Egyptian Prophecy: The Fate of Ramses. Simple puzzles, decent story, and it’s fairly short. Sounds like what you’re looking for. It’s pretty cheap on Steam.

Stay on topic please. None of this nonsense is helping qmuddy2’s request.

Some of my most favorite easy and somewhat recent adventure games are Lost Horizon and Hector: Badge of Carnage.

Lost Horizon

Hector: Badge of Carnage

Not only are both games quite easy, but they are also two of my most favorite adventure games ever. Check them out!

Yeah, I can’t recommend Hector: Badge of Carnage enough!  It’s the best game Telltale has ever released, as far as Adventure games go.  Well, it’s my favorite!  I think it’s vastly under-rated.
