Adventure game scene… uh, game (continued)
Here are some examples of gerunds from my favorite grammar book, The Transitive Vampire: A Grammar Handbook for the Innocent, the Eager, and the Doomed by Karen Elizabeth Gordon.
Gerund as subject:
Killing time takes practice.
Gerund as direct object:
She enjoys taunting.
Gerund as subjective complement:
His desire is gaining ground.
Gerund as object of a preposition:
In finding the chink in his armor, she found herself shown to the door.
Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.
Which part are you stuck on Zobraks? I tried playing through Fat Lou a few years back and got stuck on the very end scene. It was hugely annoying to me, and I finally gave up in frustration. Actually, the entire game was annoying. It took me much discipline to stick with it through those awful puzzles, but the final encounter with the boss and creating the song was too much for me.
How’s Fat Lou coming along, Mr. Zobraks?
It’s been gathering dust on my back burner for the last two years. I intended to play it once again from the start since I’m irrevocably stuck, but there’s a nasty timed puzzle (kind of a slider puzzle) that took me a lot of time to solve the first time around, so I keep postponing the second start.
I’m gonna beat Fat Lou one day, if not earlier.

You’re way ahead of me Lakerz: I can’t pass the exhibitionist cat in the park. I figure I haven’t found the needed inventory item yet.
You should consider writing a walkthrough for this obscure game since not a single one can be found on the Internet as we speak.
It could always be worse, remember that.

I second that! I hope you will, lakerz. I’m interested in playing the game.
Now playing: ——-
Recently finished: don’t remember
Up next: Eh…
Looking forward to: Ithaka of the Clouds; The Last Crown; all the kickstarter adventure games I supported
Is this about the 1996 Who’s Fat Lou? There are (at keast) 3 people here who actually found that one?

Don’t get your hopes too high, Fat Lou is wacky but not very good (to say the least).
And it’s frustrating to the bone.

Well… eh… you know how it is with extremely rare games.
Someone gave me a burned copy.

You know, if I was thinking straight back then, I would have jotted down the various puzzle solutions for Fat Lou. As it is, I don’t remember them all that well, I don’t think the game was large at all…maybe 7 or 8 locations to visit? A few inventory puzzles, a few random puzzles that were timed and really frustrated me. I remember an acerbic owl with a potty mouth and having to do a crossword puzzle which took a bit of trial and error to solve. The main thing about the game that I hated was each scene/puzzle had an opening movie with dialogue that I could not figure out a way to skip! So every timed puzzle where I would lose, I’d have to load up a saved game and spend another 3 minutes watching the movie again. That dumb owl I’ll never forget, LOL. And the end puzzle (assume it was the end since I never beat it), the movie was like 5 or 6 minutes long. I gave up. I don’t recall any slider puzzle, but my memory is poor.
I should add, the inventory puzzle solutions were very basic and easy. So it is likely Zobraks that you just have not found the needed item yet. Probably one of those timed puzzles needs to be solved first.
Sadly, I no longer have the game anymore, so even if I was inclined to give it another go (big if) I would not be able to. I rate the game a serious D- so the world is probably better off just forgetting about that game.
That’s Sinking Island, I think.

Correct Definitely not Sokal’s best game, but enjoyable none the less.

Did you find Paradise or Syberia to be better?
Next one:
Time to go through the old “Sunsets quiz”

Treasure Island
Yes, that’s it! Don’t forget to post the next screen this time!
Fun fact: I picked this one by randomly opening the book I’m currently reading and taking the first two letters I saw (Tr). I later remembered that the part of the name (island) is the same as the previously posted screen, but I already found a perfect photo of a sunset, so I thought why not? (Hmh, I keep posting beautiful screens for quite a while now )
