I dont see value, but with 2 more blackfriday deals, it will eventually penetrate masses.
Frankly if textures are ps2 getting them upto 1080p isnt important, similarly if games are underwhelming in animations and tech 4k is not important.
Gears look worse in 4k than gow or uc4 in 1080.
Look at Gears4 explosionss, level geometry, physics etc all underwhelming.
On other hand Forzahorizon3 looks killer in 4k, but will be good enough on 1080.
I think in all these upgrades, 60fps on neo or scorpio will be real game changer, not
resolution.
They have David Hasselhoff in too in CoD,

Black Friday or not, the difference between 4K and 1080p is not as big as the difference between 1080p and non Hidef. Sony (and other electronics companies) tried hard to push 3D TV’s before, with many first party games at the time having to support 3D and yet nobody bought them. I feel the same is going to happen with 4K TV’s.

3D tv is VR of today.
4k is essentially prettier quality, its easy to fall into res trap, and i believe, this TV upgrades in res will continue beyond 4k, esp when All platforms are pushing it.
In 2 yrs time, it will infiltrate homes hardcore gamers.
3D tvs are stressful, they need resources from dev , they run games at lower res, because they had to double framerate. Its quite the opposite.
Its alternate experience.
4k is same experience but more pretty.
And as you seen with the cellphones iterations, resolution war is one of the main driving factor for grabbing mainstream interest.
Expect lots of tradein deals, you will be tempted by peers, then tradein with old tvs.
