Which adventure game character’s line is it anyway?
It did.
New line:
“Are you sure, citizen?
“Absolutely, Sir. Look at me smile. I only stop when my jaw starts aching.”
“Very good, citizen. Good cycle.”
It did.

That sounds like The Feeble Files. It’s been ages since I played it though, so I don’t remember the details.

Yes, it is. Can you at least guess one of the characters?

Sorry for the delay. I made the last post as I was getting ready for sleep. I suppose it’s not as simple as one of them (if so, the one who says “Good cycle”) being Citizen Feeble himself? I know there is a woman who later gets killed by law enforcement for not being sufficiently happy. I don’t know if she’s even named, but that’s the only thing that comes to mind. It’s a long game…
It’s actually the happy bot and feeble. But you’ve guessed the scene, and that’s good enough for me. Your turn.
Here’s one bit that’s stuck with me through the years. You never learn the character’s real name, so the game is enough.
He smiles at you, but you find it difficult to return the gesture. “You like to take pictures, then…” He pauses, massaging his upper lip between his thumb and forefinger, then opens the back of the camera. “I myself have quite an interest in photography, but as for these pictures…” He pulls the film out of the roll, exposing every frame. “These pictures…” he continues, “...were probably not your best.”
Edit: It wasn’t my intention to stall this thread, so here’s a vague hint:
It’s a commercial text adventure from a well known company, though this particular game is possibly a bit overlooked nowadays. It was written by one of the company’s founders, though at this point he had apparently been fired and was working for them as a contractor.
I know the feeling! Don’t worry, it’s a fine quote.
Took me a while to dig up the source, even when I knew where to look..
It’s from Infocom’s “Border Zone”. I think the man talking is the KGB agent. The player, in this scene, is the US businessman.

Yes, that’s correct on all counts. It happens during the border search, if they find your camera with film inside. Probably the most likely case, though there are several little variations to how the scene can play out. I always liked this one: He’s not even trying to give you a credible excuse for why he’s destroying your film, because he knows there’s nothing you can do about it anyway.
The second chapter refers to him as “Viper”, but that’s obviously just a code name.
I was tempted to use a quote from Journey (a graphical Infocom game by the same author) instead, but all of my favorites are quite a bit into that game. I figured that if I was going to use an obscure text game I should at least have the courtesy to pick one that happens pretty early.
So… over to you.

Either that or his parents were hardcore serpent aficionados.
Infocom has been a source of joy since I (re)discovered text adventures on this forum. I hope you stay on this thread a while longer!
Alright, let’s see what I can come up with.
“I’m sorry, this is all a bit awkward.. (I..) it’s been a long time since I’ve attempted to persuade anyone of my intentions. Most of the people here have already made their minds up about me, one way or another. I myself do not trust the words of most men, so I don’t expect you to believe me. In the end, though, you may discover that I do have more than mere words to offer.”
The character speaking these lines considers himself a true gent.
edit: he’s quite a prolific writer as well, in his world at least.. though he’s probably not an artist at heart. He plagiarizes older works, to further his agenda.
You’re in a cage when you meet this man. He also tells you the Fifth Age will soon come to an end.

^^Not my line.
Okay, here’s one of my all time faves.
“What’s the difference between a human and a sack of flour?”
“...”
“If you drop them both off a tall building, the human will bounce.”

Did you drop the hint in another thread on purpose?
It’s the dark green tentacle judge, human contest, “Day of the Tentacle”.
