How about restaurants?
Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.

Nope, it’s not restaurants either.
Anniversaries such as Easter, Christmas, birthdays etc? 
Is it to do with birds? Rubber chicken, rubber duck, stuffed flamingo…?

This common denominator comes in various shapes and sizes. I can think of 3 different ones in Monkey Island 2. Some occurences are very similar between different games, however.

Sorry chrissie, I gave a pretty misleading clue earlier 
I wanted to use the opportunity of eggs coming up as a guess to hint at animals, but it narrowed it down too much.
