Help find a Windows/DOS sci-fi/post apocalyptic game from 1996 or earlier?

I came here on the forum to see if I could get any help.
So, basically, someone I know is looking for a game they played on Windows, but there could have been a Macintosh version, I am not sure.
They played it in the 90s, and the release date could not have been older than 1996.
The game was either 256-color or they could not raise the graphics to something better.

They say it’s similar to Maabus in terms of interface. The world was post-apocalyptic like Fallout, and the screens were static - the only animations happened when you clicked on something.

There was a puzzle on a structure like gallows, and with flesh (?) hanging off it. If you clicked on this, a voice would play.
There was a basement or another dark place where breathing sounds played.
A screen was dedicated to a diagram of a creature like Predator. Claws, breathing mask, etc.

He found the game on a magazine full of shareware games, and the edition number could have been 3 to 8.

Thanks for your help.
