Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Monday 27 August 2012
Believe it or not (I definitely have a hard time believing it), today is the 100th Scene of the Day of the new forums! I’m not sure how much longer this will keep going, but 100 is a nice number, and definitely much larger than I would have expected.
And so for AGSD #100 we’re back to where we started: with April and the White Dragon—except now the White Dragon is a hot blonde.
As is often the case for these scenes, I got a save from the Internet and replayed the bit of the game I needed to get the screenshot. And as is often the case, I ended up getting caught up in the game and replaying more than originally intended. I was really surprised at how gorgeous Dreamfall still looks. This is in large part due to its fantastic art direction, but even technically it still holds its ground pretty well. And it has this magic to it that makes you fall in love with it all over again instantly. I remember having lots of problems with the construction of the story, and the gameplay, but damn! these few minutes in Dreamfall made me want to replay it really bad. We should totally do a Dreamfall community playthrough at some point—except I wouldn’t have time to participate, so actually let’s not do that.
Dreamfall was a great game, despite its flaws (unnecessary actiony bits, a complete lack of gameplay near the end, plus the fact that it was completely unfinished). Still one of the most emotional and best written games I’ve played.
And I just loved the inclusion of Wonkers the Watilla…
The truth can’t hurt you, it’s just like the dark: it scares you witless but in time you see things clear and stark. - Elvis Costello
Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
I played it recently http://www.adventuregamers.com/games/view_reviews/15552
My only complaint was the fact that the cliffhanger ending has left us waiting for a sequel too long.
Maybe now that Secret World has launched we may get Chapters after all (probably as a Kickstarter)
An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

I’ve nearly given up on a sequel to this game.
I would love to do a walkthrough of “Dreamfall”, although I’d want to rerun through the Longest Journey by myself beforehand so I could be all caught up (not like I’ve memorized the game and everything. )
Favorite Adventure Games-Lost Crown, Longest Journey, Dark Fall 1&2, Barrow Hill, Black Mirror, Blackwell games, Riven, Myst
Favorite Other Games-Kings Bounty, FTL
Currently Playing-Barrow Hill:The Dark Path
Looking Forward To-Last Crown/Braken Tor
I really loved Dreamfall but the complete story within it was completely overshadowed by so much else unanswered!
I’d love a Dreamfall community playthrough (just reading and enjoying, not participating), but the Longest Journey playthrough was a dismal failure. So I guess there won’t be one.

I really didn’t enjoy Dreamfall. It was not for the (few) action sequences or the abrupt ending, but I felt that the story was driven in a wrong, unrealistic and unimaginable way in Stark (sorry, but the ghost girl was a strict plagiarism from the movie “The Ring”), April, a character that I apsollutely loved from TLJ changed to the bad (really April? An emo? And changed your name to Raven too? How much more cliche can you get?) and the riddles were nonexistant. However, I liked Zoe as a character, the graphics were magnificent, especially in Arcadia (not sure I preffered them from TLJ though) and it was nice to see that some likeable characters from TLJ evolved more (Roper Klacks, Westwood Tobias, etc).

There’s roughly eighteen hundred of AGs (in English, atm), so I guess you have a long way to go.
About 5 years or so.
It could always be worse, remember that.

Eighteen hundred??? Please post your list. TIA.

Oh come on, Funcom can fund it themselves. I know The Secret World is not doing as well as they hoped (they’re laying people off), but the reviews seem to agree on the story and investigation quests (i.e. Tornquist’s contributions) being the best things about it, so they should just ditch the whole MMO thing they’ve been doing for a while (and which doesn’t seem to be working for anyone anymore) and let him make Dreamfall: Chapters.
Please post your list. TIA.
Don’t thank me in advance, I won’t post that list.
Why? Well, you see, it’s a top secret: if I let you see it I would have to kill (a whole lotta) you.
It could always be worse, remember that.

Hear! Hear! I’m really into the story of the Secret World but the gameplay’s just so not up my alley I can’t get myself to subscribe for the game. (or whatever you have to do to play it)
