Player Presence & Satisfactory Ending Indicators

Hi there,

I would like to propose some ideas for 2 indicators:

1) a Player Presence indicator from 0 star to 5 star on how much action and interaction the player is requested to do (i.e: 0 being a movie, 5 being a shoot’em’up action game). This could help gamers to know how much the game is “action-oriented” instead of being mostly a passive experience.

Player Presence indicator Examples:
- 5 Stars ( Action Adventure oriented gameplay ) :
Portal 2, Superliminal, Inside, Stacking, Amnesia
- 4 Stars ( Bits of action gameplay but with a good amount of pauses for cinematic, dialogue, text ):
There Is No Game, The Room, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments
- 3 Stars (Classic adventures with balance between interactivity and cinematic, dialogue & text):
Eastshade, The Secret of Monkey Island, Grim Fandango
- 2 Stars (Adventures developed around cinematic, dialogue and text):
Telltale’s The Walking Dead, Overboard!, Life is strange, Heavy Rain
- 1 Star (Walking simulators with little or no interaction):
Last Stop, Late Shift, Journey, Dear Esther

2) a Satisfactory Ending indicator from 0 star to 5 star on how much good is the ending (or the best ending) in the context of the game, if it feels rushed or with a cliffhanger (i.e: 0 being a rushed cliffhanger, 5 being proper finale with no important loose ends).

Satisfactory Ending indicator Examples:
- 5 Stars (Well rounded endings):
Portal, Grim Fandango, Telltale’s The Walking Dead
- 4 Stars (Good endings with minor unanswered questions):
Life is Strange, Little Hope, Heavy Rain
- 3 Stars (Good endings with major unanswered questions):
The Secret of Monkey Island 2, Obduction, Virginia
- 2 Stars (Thin endings):
    The Witness, Firewatch, Machinarium
- 1 Star (Abrupt endings):
Still Life 2, Over the Alps

Let me know what you think. Smile

Any way of quantifying an experience in a review a nice thought experiment.

Not sure if this will work for the main site, but I’ll try it out on my next user review.

Interesting, I’ll have to think about how it can be used by me.

I enjoy playing adventure games on my Alienware M17 r4 and my Nintendo Switch OLED.
