Hi Space Adventurers!

Over the last couple of years, we’ve been working on a game called TextSpaced which is now v1.0 released.

What is TextSpaced? Well, TextSpaced is a text-based sci-fi MMORPG played in your browser (so can be played on your desktop, phone, tablet, etc). It has been designed from the start to be enjoyed by blind and sighted people alike (and everyone in between). It is set in an infinite one-dimensional universe (imagine an infinite ribbon) with original art, high-quality music and, mechanics built around the mantra of “tactical, not technical”. TextSpaced blends the style of more traditional text adventures with modern principles to create a game where everyone coexists in the same expansive universe, which is steeped in lore and intrigue. The entire universe is organic where everything is connected to everything else, every decision you make has a cascade of repercussions for you and your faction. The sandbox nature of the game leaves you, the player, the freedom to decide at any point what to do next.

You can unlock hundreds of skills to personalise your character with new ones being added all the time so that every player can walk a path different to everyone else. The narrative and story of TextSpaced unfold seamlessly, so you can choose to uncover the mysterious past of Old Earth, affiliate and forge relationships meeting both real and non-player characters - or simply pirate yourself to fame and fortune. With hundreds of different ways to make a living and even the mechanics to make new things nobody has seen before, every player’s experience is different and personal. Your actions influence your factors, simply continue doing what you enjoy to unlock new career paths helping your faction gain more control over the universe.

The game is Free to play, although there is an option to sign up for patreon (to support the development and server costs) which will allow you access to the more cosmetic things and access to other perks (not a pay to win).

The game is always getting new things added and updated, so you will never be left with nothing to do.

There is a Discord also available where you can chat to other players and the developers for those times you just want more information or direction in the game.

Since posting the introduction of TextSpaced, I thought it might be quite nice to keep you all updated on some of the changes/updates that’s been happening as we gain a larger player base.

In version 1.1 it was centered around capturing and training wildlife to become companions, allowing crew to be disembarked at faction Reserves, away missions for crew and elite crew contracts. It also increased complementary items such as hunting consumables, personal weapons, gear as well as new missions, idle activities, a new “Ark” ship and new artwork. And Yes, you can name your pets.

In version 1.2 we implemented traits, personalisation, person to person trade and general character development. The highlight features being the ability to create person to person trade requests, to be able to join guilds to elevate your play style and understand your character with richer information about their traits, personality, morale as well as more character driven conversation.

With all these updates happening, we’re balancing out combat, adding new music, sounds and videos. Creating new weapons, characters, crew and companions. Adding more missions, tasks and events.

The TextSpaced universe is forever growing, and you’re welcome to come and be a part of it.
