Alien: Isolation
It has a 76 metascore at the moment.
An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

8 hrs in,
Pros
- Game has best sound design in anygame…period. I have to sit and try hard to recall any game who did it better. Alien sounds and the whole music/ship ambient sounds crawls into your soul.
- Art design of Ship is another remarkable achievement by CreativeAssembly.
Assets, props, deco etc. painstaking detail, it doesn’t feel repetitive with loads of atmosphere.
- Ship and design reminded me lots of Deadspace and System shock. There isItem crafting like Lastofus.
- Where Androids and Human enemies are broken nuisance, Alien AI is amazing. I think the whole unpredictable thing makes the experience more organic and true to life. Journos used lockers too much but its better to avoid them altogether and play more like Dishonored.
- Sometimes manual saves can be painful, as their locations are not at fair places.
But i love this RE type system anyway.
With all these details you completely get absorbed in the experience, where ship and
Alien feels like actual thing , maybe even more.
This game is flawed masterpiece, CA should have ironed out the loading, padding, bugs and crappy Androids/human combats. Game crashed on me twice, even first day patch is no good.
Lets see how much more padding with androids is left, if its 16+ hr game,i have long way to go and DLC too , code of which ain’t working yet, maybe because game ain’t officially released.
Edit:
This happened to me once, in the vent, but Alien actually stealth killed me from the back.
The speed and sound of his arrival/attack can give you heart attack.
I really loved how the whole music changes when he is around and playing with you.
Edit:
Gamespot showed this in their video as drawback.
Which can be, but walking is NO NO close to Alien , only crawl, else he will supersonic
you down.
More ,

70 ish seems about right from the feedback I’ve heard.
Recently completed: Game of Thrones (decent), Tales from the borderlands (great!), Life is Strange (great!), Stasis (good), Annas Quest (great!); Broken Age (poor)
17 hrs in , no end in sight.
Some great Alien lore moments, greaaaat fanservice but last 3 hours were total
Android chore.
Are you playing non-stop ?
“Going on means going far - Going far means returning”
Are you playing non-stop ?
6 hrs per day.
Are you playing it on Hard?
Started the game last night, I hesitated but seems like Hard is the recommended difficulty level. (Still just 1 hour in)

On Normal.
Play Survival mode for Alien fun, switch to normal.
Not much difference just the Androids hits take way more damage on higher difficulties.
The game will shower so many encounters that hide and seek in lockers(Must for Hard)
will get even more boring.
For reference, i played 3 hrs today , still going even more androids now with Human and Alien, combined.
Last quarter feels like sabotage, someone was hellbent upon making game experience
borefest. I love ship and all, but for those who don’t like exploring and Alien franchise will definitely rate it 6/10.
The lever pulling, button pushing and hacking games in first 3 hrs is same stuff i am still doing now. Its amazing to think that guys who made this awesome Sevastopol and
atmosphere, greenlit this last quarter of 20+ hrs campaign.
Finished, onto DLC, the game goes on and on.
My rating 7/10.
They screwed up an awesome game.
Will share pics later.
Pics (Downsizing will not do justice so have to post like this).
Enjoy some of the amazing Sevastopol Design.

Also finished with Crew Expandable DLC.
Tightly paced and nerve wrecking ventilation scenario. 10/10
I’ve been playing this on PC for a few hours and I’m wondering, do any of you guys get annoyed but the aliasing “jaggies” in the graphics? Don’t they break the immersion a lot for you? None of the Anti Aliasing setting in the options seem to help much >.<
Alright…I’ve been an Aliens fan since I was in elementary school(early 90s),I’ve got the movies on VCR tape since then, not the abomination called Alien Ressurection though,I have lots of comics and I never imagined there would be a game that captures the feeling of the movie that well. It’s just amazing.
I could say this is the best horror title for 2014.
Also got The Evil Within but it has so many technical problems with the bad PC port…so I guess Alien Isolation is easily the scariest and best horror game for this year.
Just my two cents

not the abomination called Alien Ressurection though,
Alien Resurrection gets too much flak. It’s vastly underrated, imo. I rank it higher than Alien³.
Alien and Aliens on the other hand are on an entirely different level of quality…

Maybe this time I can be strong, but since I know who I am, I’m probably wrong. Maybe this time I can go far, but thinking about where I’ve been ain’t helping me start. - Michael Kiwanuka
Alien 3 was a depressing movie

In Finchers Defence the studio interfered with his movie and butchered the original release.
The Directors cut makes a lot more sense.
