Odd good quality games
Firstly, I apologize for the title but I didn’t know how to name it. There is a number of peculiar games, semi-adventurous, that simply do not resemble the established dominant mechanics and they are almost always indie.
I’ve played so far The Banner Saga (absolutely stunning, strongly recommend to anyone), This War of Mine and Reus.
I know I might be going for a longshot and it’s possible most of you do not understand me however: any more of such games (particularly like TBS)?
If you like the gameplay of The Banner Saga it might be worth looking into the Final Fantasy Tactics games.
If you haven’t already, and don’t know if properly fall into this thread
But i must recommend,
Vandal Hearts 1 and 2
Suikoden 5 (though 1 and 2 are recommended the most by fans, but i like 5).
Valkyria Chronicles
Resonance of Fate
Gorky 17 aka Odium
Tactics Ogre LUCTS
Vagrant Story
Crimson Shroud 3DS

Nah, quick skims across the web do not show that’s quite it.
Besides, those games aren’t for PC as far as I understand.
Look into the indies:
Massive Chalice
Invisible Inc
The ultimate game that should qualify:
Well, this year I played 7 Grand Steps: What Ancients Begat, and it is absolutely unlike anything I’ve ever played, and incredibly appealing and hooking (is that a saying in English?).

I never said it was exactly the same and you never said anything about pc.

Yeah, you are correct about the engine. However, I don’t see the Final Fantasy series in any way fit in; being mostly typical and mainstream, and most certainly not an indie enterprise.
P. S. Happy New Year!
“Stick It to the Man” - a very strange, yet almost adventure game.
I enjoy playing adventure games on my Alienware M17 r4 and my Nintendo Switch OLED.
For me i have to go with Pokemon XY. Not only that Pokemon stayed in tact for over 20 years ( is far as i’m aware of ), it’s been EVOLVING over the years and still like to watch the anime too. only thing remains is to find the first three series’s in Japanese to make me die of happiness and JOY.
