Beacon Pines
I’m surprised this game hasn’t had any discussion yet. I think it’s fairly new so has anyone else tried it yet?
It’s both cute and a bit creepy, with an interesting storytelling method that features choice and a kind of time-travel, but isn’t the typically used branching narrative and it manages to be not tedious in any way. The writing is great as is the art, tons of charm. There’s not much challenge but if you don’t mind that it’s worth a look. Closest comparison would probably be Night In The Woods but I think Beacon Pines is a step up.
You can play it for a dollar if you join XBox PC Game Pass, which is a pretty good deal considering the other free adventure games on there (Immortality, Road 96, Outer Wilds, Eastshade etc).
AKA Charo
Real puzzles or “Oh! A red key! I bet this’ll work on the red door!” puzzles?
Edit: Less cynically, is the gameplay puzzle driven ir simple interactions driven?
