Zed (kickstarter from a Myst artist)
There’s a kickstarter going on for a game called Zed, which is being made by Chuck Carter, an artist from the original Myst.
The visual style reminds me of those old pre-rendered Myst-like games: surreal, sometimes bizarre, and a mix of mechanical and whimsical.
Looks better than Obduction, art design was my beef with that.
This looks imaginative indeed.
Backed.
I backed this one some time ago, the gameplay in the demo wasn’t very interesting but the artsyle is good, could be promising.
This one looks amazing. Too bad I’m too poor at the moment to back it.

Yesss I was thinking the same thing. I like that the worlds in Zed all look really unique, while Obduction is real places dropped into an alien world.
Looks awesome, and unlike some Myst-like Kickstarter projects I’ve seen, actually evocative of the mid-90’s. I’ll definitely throw some money their way.
Walking the fine line between being an original hardware nerd, and being broke from buying original hardware.

Yeah, like I think that that main world, especially the goofy sun thing, would like perfectly natural in pre-rendered low-res graphics, style-wise.
If this fails we can all do Pulp Fiction jokes.
An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

The trailer’s worth watching. An unusual art style. I hope it makes its goal.
