Adventure Game Scene of the Day — Friday 28 September 2012
Seven games that make you want to commit suicide, Day 5: Blackstone Chronicles
I haven’t played Blackstone Chronicles, but this exploration of a creepy asylum in which lots of horrible things were done seems to crop up whenever I search for “depressing adventure game”, so I figured it should be part of this week.
Yep, that was the second one I was sure you would choose. Fantasy will be delighted, it’s one of her favorite games. And it is a good game, Legend Entertainment hasn’t produced any bad games. But I found the Blackstone Chronicles too cruel and disturbing to be really enjoyable. Not as depressing as IHNMAIMS though.
Now playing: ——-
Recently finished: don’t remember
Up next: Eh…
Looking forward to: Ithaka of the Clouds; The Last Crown; all the kickstarter adventure games I supported
I never Played Blackstone Chronicles,
but i feel that Sanitarium will be opening for the public tomorrow
Blackstone is a great game. The first time I played it was the community playthrough here and I found it a really absorbing game and a great way to tell a story about a very interesting, although not very nice, character.
Good playthrough too!
3.5 time winner of the “Really Annoying Caption Contest Saboteur” Award!
I’m with those that rate the game but do agree about the rather dark content particularly when you “meet” the little boy (Abe) near the end. Paul wasn’t a barrel of laughs either. Definitely a game to make you think - and not only about the puzzles either.
Life is what it is.

Me too! Three years ago, it was. Fantasy led the playthrough.
I love this game. I found the content to be very disturbing but I wasn’t necessarily disturbed by it. I’ve always figured or known as much happens in asylums.
I’m sorry to have missed that playthrough, Blackstone Chronicles is one of the few Legend Entertainment games I haven’t played. I’ll get around to it some day.
Aaah, a favorite. <3 I agree, it wasn’t a game to “enjoy” per se, but the story really dug into my heart.

i am not sure of anything , but as you brought The Dark Eye it has a priority at this theme, but we will just have to wait and see whats Kuru’s Cooking
Tomorrow’s game is the game that gave me the idea for this week’s theme. That’s all I’ll say.
Surely…
