Tourism games
I actually began this last winter with a sequel to the game, but i have been so busy with work this whole summer so it´s on hold for the moment. The person who sent the letter is still a mystery, but he will be in the second game aswell.
Fantastic news. Please keep us informed.
Don’t Hate Me Because I Am Beautiful…There Are Many Other Reasons
What I would call “Tourism Games” are those in which you visit a real place in the present day and the place is left visually intact. They usually have lots of sightseeing - museums, churches, castles. The story and puzzles can, of course, be fictional. It also differs from the historical category of games. For example, while Secrets of Da Vinci is very accurate historically it’s not like taking a trip to Italy.
The List
Gabriel Knight 2 - Munich, Germany
Yoomurjak’s Ring - Eger, Hungary
Quiet Weekend at Capri - Capri, Italia
Carol Reed series - Norrköping, Sweden
Riddle of the Sphinx - Giza, EgyptAny others? It doesn’t have to be photo-based, I just can’t think of any that aren’t.
I’m not sure whether I’d include Gabriel Knight 3. It’s not because the graphics aren’t photographic - Rennes-le-Château is a real place but I suspect a lot of the places in GK3 are made up and/or changed for the game. I may be wrong
Byzantine: The Betrayal - Istanbul , Turkey.
Golden Gate - San Francisco
The Santa Fe Mysteries - Santa Fe , New Mexico.
