I recognise this sales pitch, it’s Shadow of the Comet Smile John Parker talking to the local store clerk.

Alright!
-I’ve seen two examples of American cinema and I know all I wish to know about your customs and your people.
-Was Deliverance one of those movies?
-It was.
-What was the other one?
-I Spit on Your Grave.

Not sure about the game, but this quote is hilarious.  Grin

Yes, humour and references are best parts of this game Smile Here’s another line, from a dialogue with the same character:
*You take a box*
-I suppose it’s natural for people who travel in boxes to be a little grabby of other people’s possessitons.
-I’ll return it… What is it?
-One of Master’s magic tricks, I believe.
*You take the spirit slates*
-Will that be all, or are you still browsing?

Seems like a more direct hint is needed:
-Where exactly am I?
-Castle Florescu, south of the Transylvanian Alps in Romania.
-And Pyotr lives here?
-This is his family estate. He has not lived here for many years.
-It’s beautiful.
-Thank you. I keep bumping into things due to the lack of illumination, but it does give the castle a homey feel otherwise so difficult to achieve.

It sounds like Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon.

It is indeed! My favourite chapter with lots of horror jokes and references.

Did I sleep through half of that of the game?

Callahan’s is in my top 10 list of all-time favorites.

“That is not cool, ***, seriously.”
“I just couldn’t help myself.”
“Well, one of these days you’re gonna ‘help yourself’ to a restraining order.  I’m just telling you this as a friend.”

Here’s a bit more of that conversation.  Two females are talking.

Hey, wait a minute!  I never told you where I grew up.”
“Oh!  I, uh…Well, I might have sort of looked you up.”
“That is not cool, ***, seriously.”
“I just couldn’t help myself.”

Thanks. Then we’ll go with this monologue:

“The miles ahead of me are so much smaller than those I’ve walked. My journey is already over. Home. But there’s nothing left for me here, either. The things I’ve lost can’t be scavenged or repaired. What’s written can’t be rewritten. It can only be locked away.”
