The Devil’s Men mysterious disappearance
As far as adventures go, this could have been a great game! Sounds and looks so intriguing and eerie.
Any idea why it was so quietly and unexpectedly canceled after 5 years in development??
Daedalic financial issues.
It should be noted that there was at the time (2018) much happening in the world of adventure, like Telltale Games shutting down in roughly the same time period. I’m sure there were some other projects too that got axed by other companies, but I can’t recall them right now.
No one really knows the reasons why, but I guess generally speaking there just wasn’t enough foreseeable profit in adventure games to support the project further, or to save Telltale Games.
The Devil’s Men looked very unique, but we can speculate whether a Steampunk-themed point-and-click game from a mid-size German company would have really interested a lot of gamers generally speaking. The few dedicated adventure fans who want to get every adventure are too few to make the financial equation work.
I suppose they could have turned it into a hidden object game or something, but very little would have remained from the original idea then.
what, the devil’s men were kidnapped?
“Do you know the whereabouts of these men?
If you do, please contact me, Satan, through the following ritual.”

Heh.
I’m picturing one of those photocopied notices with tear-off contact strips at the bottom all saying 666.
While we’re at it, what happened to Firmament?
