Grin Oh dear.

I’m already doing mindfulness exercises and stocking up on chamomile tea.

Chamomile tea…
Good preparation is half the battle. Smile

You know what the worst part of being a leader is? Those awful participants who post things like: “can we go back to the other island and buy something else from the merchant, just to see what happens” or “let’s try both yes and no to all this guy’s questions”.
I have been guilty of both. But I’ve also been a leader.

Yes, that’s going to be a doozy. Wink

I’ll manage! I hope. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed these TAPS from the other side of the stage, I think I’m ready to put up a show.

Seriously, it’s easy to underestimate the amount of work. Don’t feel you have to do it.

I didn’t mind it. Really. But I think that’s why it’s essential to find a game the leader really enjoys. Because then she/he will want to try everything along with the participants, and appreciates the suggestions rather than resenting them.

(and that’s not to say I didn’t have my times of resentment too!)  Grin

I wasn’t talking about resentment, just about the amount of work I knew would be fruitless.

But do tell us about your times of resentment.

It was mostly when I’d already tried something on my own, and could see the group’s or one participant’s thinking going in that direction, but at a snail’s pace. Which ties into knowing it will be fruitless, and wanting to “get on with it”.

The benefits of being the leader having the game at your fingertips means one line of thinking is dismissed in a few seconds, without the communications, posting transcripts etc… even though there’s some satisfaction in that too.

Agreed.

I once abused my power as a leader at the start of Anchorhead, when someone suggested we go look for hubby instead of finding the key to the house first. I knew that would mean lots of backtracking, so I put my foot down and said, no we find the key first. Bad Karlok. I don’t think I ever did that again.

I’ve just discovered these threads thanks for VP’s comment in the other thread.

Would anybody be interested in another text adventure playthrough?
I was thinking Endless, Nameless - an intriguing game I started but haven’t got far on. At first glance it appears to be a humorous take on Zork, but I can guarantee after spending under an hour with it that it’s a lot more, with a central twist adding a whole other dimension.

I’d be down to participate as time allows.  I know it really takes up a lot of time though for whoever is the game host, it is a labor of love to put that altogether as a live group experience.

Cool!

I can’t find the general TAP (text adventure playthrough) thread, so I’ll respond here and make a new thread for those interested.
