adventure games for consoles
Disgusted not to see anyone mention Zak and Wiki.
Anyway, Zak and Wiki for the Wii.

I stand corrected! And I might want to give that a try. We picked up a second hand Wii U a while ago.
So, if we’re move past simply recommending games and offering better advice to the OP, yeah, upgrade/get a new computer if you want to play adventure games. There’s a lot of good AGs on console, most of them are on PC as well, and the amount of PC exclusive AGs cannot be understated. Plus the level of versatility you get from emulation is unmatched. So essentially all the console/mobile exclusive adventures from the past can also be played on PC. There are some edge cases where you cant fully replicate the experience, like the DS hardware puzzles in CiNG games, but overall the library of potential games on PC cannot be beat.
Between PC exclusive indies, the freeware scene, emulation and the fact that most of the bigger games are/eventually become multiplatform, PC is the best single platform for AG games. If you’ve gatta go with one.
Thank you so much for your kind replies and insights. Having played Dreamfall on the XBOX360 confirmed what one member stated above - consoles are probably not the natural home for this genre.
Shadow of Destiny for PS2 and PSP is a very interesting one that plays well on consoles.
Has a different name outside of the US, which I can’t remember at the moment.

Great game. Loved it on the PS2.
I enjoy playing adventure games on my Alienware M17 r4 and my Nintendo Switch OLED.

There is no natural home for the genre. And you can have more than one system. Consoles are cheap fun, from $99 dollars to $499 currently. And programmers take advantage of the hardware. I am playing an adventure game on my iPad that you could not play on the PC. Adventure games like The Last Window, Hotel Dusk, Until Dawn, etc. are not on the PC and sold millions of copies and have unique gaming experiences you can’t get on the PC. I’ve even played adventure games on the 3DS that had 3D, gyroscope and camera puzzles not possible on the PC.
The PS5 dualsence controller is a game changer, giving you gaming experiences not possible on the PC. Don’t limit yourself. I have a $2500 dollar Alienware gaming PC and 366 PC adventure games and I still game on other systems.
FYI, Detroit: Became Human is the only recent AAA adventure game released. It was unique to the PS4 for years and sold over 3,5 million copies on the PlayStation before it was ported to the PC. It runs like a charm on a $199 PS4. It takes a $2000 dollar gaming PC to play this port to the PC.

2000 dollars seems a bit exaggerated. I have a gaming laptop bought for half the price and it runs Innocence A Plague’s Tale smoothly which came out a year after Detroit.

Detroit:Became Human is a graphics intensive AAA game they spent millions on just the graphics alone. I can get it to run on my Alienware gaming PC, but since it’s a port, it actually plays better on a PS4/5.

What you forget to mention now is that on consoles the framerate is capped at 30 FPS, whereas on PC you can go higher than that, or limit it down if performance is an issue.
There are lots of good titles out on the Switch at the moment. Off the top of my head - Thimbleweed Park, Oxenfree, The Inner World, Gibbous, Kentucky Route Zero, Unavowed, Tangle Towers, Machinarium, The Darkside Detective, Hero-U…
They’re a bit tougher to run into because of Switch’s complete lack of smart recommendation, so you’ll have to look up keywords like “adventure game” in the shop, but there are plenty of them.
Brawsome’s upcoming (and seemingly excellent) release “Warp Frontier” should also be available for the Switch.

So true. I have a Switch and 30 games on it already. It’s the perfect system to collect for with some excellent limited editions of physical games and lots of indies. For a portable it’s performance is amazing.
