What are your favourite settings, views and background art in adventure games?

This doesn’t qualify as “most amazing”, but Tardy was a game that seemed really impressive when I saw screenshots on Steam.
Captivating pixelarts showing a bit rundown scifi environments.
The game itself was a big disappointment, but backgrounds are nice.

First one that comes to mind:
The Dig

Awesome!
Good to see some modern views as well. I got two more classics: I love a lot of the visual design in King’s Quest V and these two screens have been stuck in my brain since I saw them:

really neat shading on those rocks and the subtle water tones with the dithering and little lines.

Ma-man!, i used walk into that cave when I am stuck and just admire it, not moving, not typing anything, just standing there. that is how much that scene was so amazing to me back then

If you are admiring cave walls in Leisure Suit Larry III, you are playing it wrong!
Hint: USE BINOCULARS to admire something else.
But LSL3 really took that realistic Larry to a new level.
That and the game itself, it’s no wonder that for the next one they had to skip a number, change graphical style completely and have new user interface and everything.
The jungle backgrounds impressed me, it really gives a sense of adventure.

Gorgeous. I really like the transition from swamp to mountains. Really sets the scene in the early part of the game since you know that’s where you’re headed.
When I saw the thread title I instantly thought Eastshade. It’s hard not to when the whole premise is as a traveling artist solving puzzles to reach beautiful places in order to paint them. Probably the prettiest game I’ve played, at least top 5.
AKA Charo

nice!
everytime I see stuff like this I think: more games I’d like to play before I can list my top 100.
This is already on the list. Full Throttle. I like the proportions and the tension of power at the tipping point.
