Artistically, I can understand why the developer did it, but I’ve grown emotionally attached to the likable, plucky, and sometimes funny* shade and only want to make things right for him.

You can spend hours in the Hall of Eternity without getting anywhere. Please post when/if you’ve managed to make things right for him.

Back to the topic. I know I should recognize your pic, but I don’t. A familiar unpleasant feeling.

This might help date the time period portrayed in the game.

I found three possible answers, I feel this is the strongest contender:

“Versailles 1685”

It sure is.

I occasionally just remember this game for no apparent reason at all. I thought the main character was a bore, but the artist in the previous screenshot (aunt Judith, psychic painter!) stuck with me.

That’s “(Banks of) the Seine at Asnieres” by Renoir.

..and I think it’s in “Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned”, so I’ll go with that as the answer.

The game has lots of art, but it’s not a GK game.

You sent me down a rabbit hole, Lady Kestrel!

I’ve noticed pixelated reproductions of famous paintings in adventure games before, but there’s so much of it in so many games.
