I was pleasantly surprised to see this article in my RSS feed from Maximum PC.

http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/20_weirdest_adventure_games2013

I think it’s a good sign there is growing interest (or at least nostalgia) for adventures. But it’s a cool list of games nonetheless.

Maybe off-topic

i remember one comment on youtube video for Gemini Rue play
i can believe that there are people in this world in the year 2012 still playing this retro crap!” ..

it actually felt good for me as i thought we are special and someone like him will never know what he misses and here is some article talks about 20 of the Best weirdest games!

anyways ...
i remember also i had came across an article about the most 5 obscure adventures once .. i will to try to lookup for it again as it was strange i didn’t recognize any title there

Nice find!

BUT… Sam & Max was weirder than DOTT. And surprised to see full throttle and Loom there. Also I think they have a thing for 3rd person games. Obsidian, Outcry and at least one Zork game should be there. Oh, and Woodruff and the Schnibble of Azimuth

That’s a fun list, Inm8, and it seems to be a fair summary of each game.

great list indeed!!
So glad some of these games are still there and not forgotten, though I wouldn’t describe all of it weird…

Advie, about that youtube comment…I’ll just say that the weirdest and most annoying comments I have seen on youtube, probably because even the biggest dumbass comments on youtube.

My immediate thoughts were Bad Mojo and Eastern Mind, so glad both of them made it.

There’s quite a few filler picks there though (Journeyman Project is hardly odd!) - Blue Ice or The Madness of Roland (if that counts) were completely bonkers.

Yes! Another one is Psychic Detective. An entire game of jumping between people’s heads is the definition of weird.

What’s weird about Full Throttle?

It doesn’t seem to belong on this list.

An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

The only thing slightly weird about FT was that it was set in a (mildly) alternative future with hover cars.. that’s about it!

I’m on a whole new adventure.
Growing a mustache?
No. Bigger than that.

Seriously? GF, FT, DotT wierd???
IMHO, Bad Mojo, The Daedalus encounter and The Dark Eye are top on the list (and The Cat Lady deserved to be mentioned too.)

I agree, Full Throttle was completely misplaced on this list. I don’t really recall Orion Burger being that weird either, apart being shrunk to the size of a hamster and the existence of aliens using human meat for an intergalactic food chain.

Duckman: Can you believe it? Five hundred bucks for a parking ticket?
Cornfed Pig: You parked in a handicapped zone.
Duckman: Who cares? Nobody parks there anyway, except for the people who are supposed to park there and, hell, I can outrun them anytime.

I thought that DoTT was quite weird when I first played it; passing everything through a toilet!  But, what great fun!  DoTT is still one of my favorite games to play. I didn’t think Loom was too weird. At least at the time. I think I need to replay some of these weird games again.

I have no mouth and I must scream and Sanitarium are on the list so I am happy, those were some weird but great games.

The only weird thing is the list itself. The author was probably just looking for a label to stick on a bunch of totally different games. I bet nobody has heard of the music game Total Distortion. Interestingly, the article ignores the major, and I mean MAJOR, drawback of Orion Burger: it’s timed!

Bad Mojo is a great game, Eastern Mind is not. IMO. Smile Looked very interesting but pretty soon it became more of just the same. Unfinished.

It’s been a looooong time since anybody mentioned The Madness of Roland. I liked it. But it’s not a game, it’s an interactive novel.

Now playing: ——-
Recently finished: don’t remember
Up next:  Eh…
Looking forward to:
Ithaka of the Clouds; The Last Crown; all the kickstarter adventure games I supported

I never found stuff like Full Throttle or Journeyman Project to be all that weird. I would probably have put Normality on there, too.

what is “Weird” ?
Zobraks Style

come on guys we should not give jackass for this summary ... i guess anyone here of us at AG would be more reliable and efficient if to make that list/summary than this one (whoever)...

i say hell to it, .............thou its good only Thankfully to Inmate for this find which shows us how the out of the Adventure box people think when they wondering about our Genre ...also i doubt if who wrote that article had played any of those titles .. maximum guess he/she might have only seen some Screens ,reviews or tube Video ..
