Unmechanical - new adventure puzzler
I just recently came across this game, which is just about to be released soon. It looks a bit like the Machinarium style of a silent protagonist combined with a variety of tricky puzzles. Here’s what I found about the game’s story:
The game casts players into the role of a robot who was suddenly thrown into the innards of an underground beast and struggling to find its way out and figure out the mysterious trigger of the incident. Starting the journey towards freedom, players will solve a series of puzzles, pick up objects and interact with the world, collect bits and pieces of clues to gradually understand the whole story. Puzzles, exploration and mystery combines to make a unique single-player experience.
So it seems to fit nicely into AG’s “exploration + story + puzzle solving” creed. Also, no deaths!
There’s a website with a demo and trailer in case anyone wants to take a look.

Yep, we’ve got a review copy of this, but need to check it out to see where it fits on our adventure-o-meter.
Looks interesting! It seems to be Swedish developers. Nice.

It’s certainly a puzzle game, but probably not an adventure.

An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

If you ask me, the gameplay resembles a more articulate version of Botanicula (replace point-and-click with cursor keys). It’s strange how the less gameplay there is, the more likely it’s regarded as a “true” adventure game.
It’s certainly a puzzle game, but probably not an adventure.
Not a traditional one, but it’s really no different from the likes of Botanicula or Portal or even something like RHEM. All the elements are there.
Just started it half an hour ago and loving it. Cute, charming, nice music, good puzzles that are already getting harder.
Now playing: ——-
Recently finished: don’t remember
Up next: Eh…
Looking forward to: Ithaka of the Clouds; The Last Crown; all the kickstarter adventure games I supported
