I want to replace Omikron: The Nomad Soul with Broken Sword 4: The Angel of Death.

Well, I don’t really as I love Omikron, but upon replaying it I see now there’s bit too much action even by my standards, far more than just a couple of scenes I thought, and that’s hardcore shooting/fighting, not even QTE pseudo-action. I also want to add some great 2D cartoon games, because there should be more great 2D cartoon games:

Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror
Curse of Monkey Island (for the sake of Plunder Island and Murray)
Full Pipe
Gobliiins
Leisure Suit Larry 1: In the Land of the Lounge Lizards (the 1991 remake)
Leisure Suit Larry: Love for Sail!
Machinarium
Orion Burger
Runaway 3: A Twist of Fate
U.F.O.s

I suggest all lists STOP! As in STOP right now. Moratorium on submissions until Lady K has been able to compile and submit her results based on what has been submitted to date. THEN, if you want to modify your submissions, feel free to do so. But why would you? You’ve only been given a month submit your best. My guess is that at least half of the people who submitted their list have changed/modified/added to their list at least four times.

FGS, this was supposed to be a fun exercise.

I don’t see why this should stop Lady Kestrel from posting preliminary results of the first two weeks. And I listed my reasons for the update - the game I submitted doesn’t quite fit the rules, I had to replay it to learn it (which took me those 2 weeks), as I did with other titles I had forgotten about, because I played them like 20-30 years ago. That’s why reading other lists is also helpful. Lady K herself made it clear she accepts updates, I don’t see why this upsets you so much, especially since that what is keeping the thread afloat for the lack of participants. It’s a forum game we do in our free time, not a chore or an in-depth research.

She’s not a victom. Nobody asked her to do this. She volunteered.

Baron_B.,
Your first list has 86 games, so you have to pare your second one down to 14.  (Yes, I do count them.) Grin

VP & Doom,
I made your additions and changes.

There should be more such games mentioned, at least I appreciate learning about such things, having never owned anything from Apple and the last thing from Nintendo is a GBA.

Of course getting to play them might be a challenge, but there are ways to do that.

It might be a good idea to mention either developer or year with The Castle though, as there is a game called that for Windows too.

When I saw that on the list, I thought how is that supposed to be a Mac only game, but apparently you meant something else entirely.  Smile

I think this is my final update. Can’t think of anything else except bad games. This thread will help me to find good games I haven’t played yet though.

VP & Doom,
I made your additions and changes.

Thanks, Lady K, and sorry if those updates are bothering you, I won’t post any more, I promise. Although I just purchased The Witness to see what all the fuss is about… but it got enough love already.

@Doom

I can’t believe you nixed a Sega Dreamcast game in favor of the worst game in the Broken Sword series.

Lady K, I’m going to rectify this nonsense by adding Crazy Taxi to my list.

(PS: Just kidding, although I bet I could make a compelling argument for why Crazy Taxi should qualify as an adventure game.)

You’re driving down what appears to be a freeway in the middle of a city, listening to the latest Punk-O-Rama compilation and out to get paid.

“YA YA YA YA YA!”

An elderly Pastor waves at you.

All right, Game Lovers!  Here are the just-past-midmonth statistics for your favorite games. (I managed to grab all except the Baron’s most recent post.)

If you haven’t realized what a diverse lot we are, I think the fact that there are 637 different games on the master list may convince you.

Of the 26 people who submitted their lists so far, eight of them managed to include 100 games, but 7 people had counts under 50.  The average number of games submitted is 68.42.

As was predicted, each game has tied with at least one other game, except for one.  The game at the top of the voting list, with a whopping 20 points, is Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars.

I’m not going to break down the entire list until the end of the month, but here are the games that received 6 or more votes:

19 Curse of Monkey Island, The
19 Day of the Tentacle
18 Secret of Monkey Island, The
18 Syberia
17 Grim Fandango
17 Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
17 Longest Journey, The
16 Full Throttle
16 Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge
15 Sam & Max Hit the Road
14 Beast Within, The: A Gabriel Knight Mystery
13 Beneath a Steel Sky
13 Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers
13 Kathy Rain
12 Blade Runner
12 Dig, The
12 Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned
12 Technobabylon
12 Thimbleweed Park
11 Blackwell Epiphany
11 Resonance
11 Return of the Obra Dinn
11 Still Life
11 Wolf Among Us, The
10 Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror
10 Discworld Noir
10 Machinarium
10 Unavowed
10 Whispers of a Machine
9 Blackwell Deception, The
9 Discworld
9 Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
9 Life Is Strange
9 Loom
9 Pandora Directive, The
9 Paradigm
9 Sanitarium

8 There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension
8 Toonstruck
8 Walking Dead, The: Season 1
7 Black Mirror, The
7 Blackwell Unbound
7 Book of Unwritten Tales, The
7 Broken Sword 3: The Sleeping Dragon
7 Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon
7 Cognition: An Erica Reed Mystery
7 Fran Bow
7 Gemini Rue
7 Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective
7 Gray Matter
7 Heaven’s Vault
7 King’s Quest VI : Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow
7 Last Express, The
7 Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
7 Primordia
7 Quest for Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness
7 Sam & Max, Season 2: Beyond Time and Space
7 Silent Age, The
7 Simon the Sorcerer

6 Runaway: A Twist of Fate
6 To the Moon
6 Whispered World, The
6 Zork Grand Inquisitor

As you can see, as the number of votes declines, the more games received the same number of votes.  In fact, currently there are 323 games that have received only one vote so far.  That doesn’t mean those games aren’t well loved and shouldn’t be shared here.  It just means that it might be better to have a smaller sample from each person.

That’s all I have for now, but voting is still open until July 31 at midnight wherever you are.
