Lamplight City - Detective Adventure in an Alternate “Victorian” Past
Hi!
There’s been a bit of coverage on AG about my new game, Lamplight City, but I figured I’d start a forum thread, especially as it’s Christmas, and that makes me think of Charles Dickens, one of the influences for this game.
So what is Lamplight City? Well, it’s a detective adventure set in an alternate “Victorian” past, with a sprinkling of steampunk, and an aesthetic borrowing heavily from Gabriel Knight.
You can find more details at http://www.grundislavgames.com/lamplightcity/
Hoping to release this in 2017!
Fantastic art work. I can definitely see the GK influence!
Another great project for 2017! Hopefully a Victorian adventure game without Jack the Ripper nor Dracula…

looks great!
Any idea if it will be more challenging than a Golden Wake?
Max: Right! We’ll travel through this dimensional portal on the top of the bar!
Sam: That’s spilled beer, rockhead.
Max: Oh in that case ...

Good question. As the designer, it’s hard for me to gauge. The type of gameplay is somewhat different. Where A Golden Wake and Shardlight were very much classic inventory based puzzle games, Lamplight City has no inventory.
The primary focus is solving the cases. Having said that, each case has multiple leads, some of which are red herrings, and it’s possible to accuse the wrong suspects, or even screw up all your leads and make the case unsolvable, while still being able to proceed with the game.
Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to share a sneak peek at the Main Title Suite which will play at the title screen, appropriately enough!
Digging the music, nice and atmospheric.
Hi Grundislav, the game is looking good, and I like Victorian era adventure games.
Will there be a game demo? I want to cover it on my channel.
Eventually, when the game is closer to release, there will be a demo, yes. That still won’t be for quite a few months, though.
That theme is brilliant and wouldn’t be out of place in Hollywood
I am filled with intrigue!
Hello all,
Just a quick bump with a couple of updates. Lamplight City has gotten a bit of a graphical overhaul, as the character sprites have been redone to better match the backgrounds. A few screenshots here:
Also, as you may have heard, this game will not be published by Wadjet Eye. I hope to make an announcement with regards to the game’s future in the coming weeks, but a few details still need to be ironed out.
I guess executive meddling were too far this time.
Let’s hope you manage to find a new publisher as the game deserves it.
¡Buena suerte Francisco!

Looking good! Hope this can still be a 2017 release, keep us posted.

Unfortunately it’s looking more likely to be an early 2018 release, but I promise it will be worth the wait!
Just a quick bump to announce that Lamplight City has found a publisher!
The game will be brought to you by Application Systems Heidelberg who you may know as the publishers of Nelly Cootalot: The Fowl Fleet and the upcoming Unforeseen Incidents.
Look for it in early 2018!
Great news!
Hopefully you will be able to finish the game the way you wish.

It’s on my full price buy list. No need to promise anything, I have a good feeling about this game just by looking at the screenshots. My intuition hasn’t let me down when it comes to adventure game screenshots yet.
