Adventure games scenes that calm you
the welcome inn in qfg 3… that song is so soothing and relaxing and it just gives a calm feeling of warmth
here is a relaxing medley from a number of adventures’ OSTs
i have made it for myself originally, but here it goes;
Every time I’m reminded of the Quest for Glory 5 soundtrack I think: how did I forget how good this is?
It’s a good compilation all together!
But I love the Quest for Glory 5 soundtrack.
thanks, Viggie, glad you liked it
Do you mean the game itself?!, QfGV was an RPG game with less and less elements of adventure gaming, i hated it honestly, but that does not take away how good its Soundtrack was.
I meant the soundtrack! But I somewhat like the game. It’s not going to end up on a list of my favourites, though I guess that’s relative: if the list is long enough, it’ll end up in there at some point.
Milo & The Magpies is a fairly short* game, it’s very easy-going and kind of sweet.
* short enough to sneak into this thread
I feel there’s a scene from so many adventure games that soothes me but off the top of my head -
The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 as Ivo walking through the garden. I played this for the first time on my 4K monitor and was blown away by how beautiful it looked in high definition. The colours… the music… it was hard to point and click away from that scene.
For me, the Rubacava chapter in GF is as comfy as it gets. It captures that Casablanca feeling well.
I also find Scabb Island strangely reassuring and cosy, but it might just be nostalgia/the fact I played it as a kid.
Another dev for another game (I can only apologise!).
Check out Mistmoon Falls, a weird murder mystery set in a Stardew Valley-inspired setting. Or don’t! Choices matter.

I don’t know why, but I’ve been putting off playing Grim Fandango for years.
This scene looks like a good invitation though. Plus this is a bar where I would hang out. I love the interior and the amount of people in it.
I know people take shots at it for some obscure puzzles, but I considered them about par for Lucasarts at the time (actually, I just remembered the one bad puzzle… besides that, though, I thought it was fine). Admittedly it was a bit clunky to control (I haven’t tried the remaster, so possibly they’ve fixed that). But there’s a lot to love about it, imho.

The tent in the woods in Caligo. I spent a lot of time there and was enchanted by it.
