Hey all! I’m Cosmic Void on Twitter and Steam and I’m working on Blood Nova, a 2D adventure game depicted in hand-drawn pixel art.
Edit: The demo is now available! Check it out on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1810270/Blood_Nova/
Would love to hear what you guys think of it!

Princess Love is set to assume the throne of a powerful galactic empire. But when conspirators try to thwart her ascension, Love and her best friend Kel become stranded on an interstellar lighthouse.
Blood Nova is a modern point and click adventure game set in a unique and original science fantasy universe. It tells a story of adventure and conspiracy.
As Love you will explore an interstellar lighthouse called The Looping Vale, solving creative puzzles and meeting a cast of eccentric characters, each with their own hidden motivations and desires.
The game is brought to you by me (The Corruption Within, Void Breach), Ross Joseph Gardner (Half-Life: A Place in the West), and Donovan Jonk (Megahammer Studios).
A demo will be made available soon and a KS campaign is expected to launch sometime in January, with hopes of releasing the full game in late 2022. Blood Nova will be available for Windows. Localization (subtitles): English, and if funded, German too.

Nice, looking forward to this.
By the way, are you from Breda? Please survive the oncoming carnaval apocalypse.
Thank you! I’m not personally from Breda but one of the team members is.

I’m the one who’s from Breda. And I’ve gotten quite skilled at avoiding carnaval

I’ll be very happy to hear what you guys think!
I’ve been looking forward to this demo.
The graphical style, slightly off-beat interface and general atmosphere make the game seem somewhat dream-like. I like how it sets up the universe and I’m curious about the direction(s) the plot will take. The short-term stakes: nicely done, though it’s a bit early to feel invested and at home in the world.
Really liked the descriptions you get from examining the moon (of Felinere). I’ve noticed a couple of details like this and they’re appreciated. But that bit in particular made me smile.
The relationship and dynamic between the two main character to me is a bit underdeveloped, I get the sense this will grow during the game, but right now, it’s like two characters saying things like: “We’ve always been close, remember how we go way back?” I read it, but I don’t sense it yet.
The first puzzle (if I did it correctly), did not make much sense to me. There was a clear hint, but what I did turned out not to have any immediate effect anyway. After two use-key-on-door puzzles (don’t mind) I think I’ve come up against the first real puzzle of the game. I’m a bit too tired to push on, but I’ll let you know what I think once I’ve found the solution.
Thanks for trying out the demo, Vegetable Party!
The first puzzle (if you mean the pipe?) really serves as a tutorial, and that’s why the ‘solution’ is spelled out. Perhaps it could be made clearer!
I’ll be happy to hear what you think about the rest of it!

Blood Nova is a pixel-art, point and click, space fantasy adventure game. If you want to help us realize our vision we’d be immensely grateful!
I downloaded the demo yesterday, played it and then backed it.
Pros:
- Beautiful pixel art, especially the character portraits. I hope there are more of them throughout the game.
- Fitting background music.
Shows potential:
- Interesting setting. I hope we get to learn more about the setting and customs of the royalty. From the description of the Queen marrying her handmaid, I’m curious to see where you go with gender roles in society. In your description you say “Our game prides itself on being a diverse, inclusive game with powerful thematic messaging” so I’m hopeful that you will make something interesting with the characters and social commentary.
- Mini map. I thought that was a really cool feature at first for exploring the environment in first-person, though I still want to click on doors and ladders to move to other areas out of habit. However, the placement of the dots on the map wasn’t very intuitive to me. Maybe it’s that I’m currently playing a dungeon crawler with an auto-mapping feature that I was expecting the map to be fixed with new squares added as you find new rooms in the lighthouse and then with fast travel available to any room at all times.
Cons:
- Puzzles seem like they will be too easy. I know that to appeal to a wider range of players the game can’t be too difficult in the beginning though and I’m in the minority that wants more games with VirtuaVerse levels of difficulty.
Thank you for your feedback, TheLongestJourney, and for backing the game!
Puzzles are tricky to design. Some people thought a few of the puzzles in the demo were hard! I wouldn’t want to make the puzzles obtuse or unfair, I like puzzles that are signposted well. But I’ll take this into consideration - maybe the game needs puzzles that are a bit trickier!
Hey everyone! With the campaign ending soon, if you wanted to support the game on Kickstarter, you can still do so until the 18.02. It’d mean so much to us and help bring our game to life!

Congrats on getting funded! If it doesn’t make the stretch goal, I won’t be too disappointed since as I said I enjoyed the music that was already in the demo.
