General VideoGames OST Thread
So this thread is about your favorite music in Non Adventure Games.
Would like to share this amazing OST, best of this year yet and in recent memory.
Almost all the tracks are super catchy.
Retro 80s J.Carpenter horror vibe ftw,
DyingLight (by Pawel Blaszczak)
Amazing cover,
and then some,
MickGordon is one of the best composer around who just keeps on delivering,
Here his latest work on amazing KillerInstinct OST,
Cinder Theme
Why thanks for this thread, I find this subject very interesting.
I enjoy playing adventure games on my Alienware M17 r4 and my Nintendo Switch OLED.
I was hoping this would get brought up
I can’t really pick favorites, but here’s some memorable ones.
Most of the songs Grant Kirkhope are good, but this one for me sticks out:
To Zanarkand:
Never Forget:
Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts OST:
Shenmue OST:
Slightly cheating, but the newer version of One Winged Angel from FF7 is done brilliantly:
Ori and the Blind Forest OST:
Journey:
Flower:
Recently completed: Game of Thrones (decent), Tales from the borderlands (great!), Life is Strange (great!), Stasis (good), Annas Quest (great!); Broken Age (poor)
From recent games Destiny has a great soundtrack. For some examples I’m using some of the introduction to the races, always get me pumped:
Vex:
Cabal:
And speaking of old Rare - David Wise soundtrack in DK: Tropical Freeze is amazing!!, all of it, some examples:
@tad & wilco
Marty was amazing in Halo and Destiny , dunno why he was weeded out, i have low hopes
for Destiny2 and Halo5 music, his music was something else.
Shenmue was killer, Yuzo koshiro delivered again after Streets of Rage in 3D setting with orchestra.

Masafumi takada, yeah before DanganRonpa he did this,
Killer7 brought him to the picture.
This a cutscene but have to show it, as music makes the situation more cooler!
No More Heroes
One of Fav boss themes, crank up your speakers and listen to this whole piece,
Main Theme, so profound
Before Layton series Tomohito Nishiura made beautiful, enchanting Rogue Galaxy soundtrack, i recommend the whole OST as well as game, but here are some of fav picks,

Yeah, composers leaving is not a good lot of times, like Jesper Kyp leaving the Assassins Creed franchise or when Jack Wall left Mass Effect. Both composers that left and great mark in the respective games.
Had no idea the Danganronpahas those games in his past. Cool stuff.
2 other soundtracks:
Transistor (game was disappointing fir me, but like Bastion it had some a very good soundtrack)
Ico (very minimalistic)
As a big fan of my SNES I like going back to that stuff.
- Chronotrigger
- Link to the Past (although most Zelda games will do)
Slightly newer soundtracks
- Metal Gear SOlid
- Silent Hill 2
An adventure game is nothing more than a good story set with engaging puzzles that fit seamlessly in with the story and the characters, and looks and sounds beautiful.

I never played this game (Cannon Fodder), but occasionally I turn on its the main theme to relax when I’m dealing with lot of stress.
Recently played: Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons 5/5, Bioshock 2 4/5, Tomb Raider (2013) 3/5 Looking forward to: Gibbous, Saint Kotar
How could I forget David Wise! His stuff is great. Have you heard his new Yooka-Laylee song:
Recently completed: Game of Thrones (decent), Tales from the borderlands (great!), Life is Strange (great!), Stasis (good), Annas Quest (great!); Broken Age (poor)
Cant get this Bayo2 track out of my head,
Maxpayne3 had one of the best OST from last gen,
Here is one soothing track,
Amazing track from Old Blood, by THE genius MickGordon

Max Payne 3 had a great soundtrack, but “Tears” by Health is by far my favorite. I had goosebumps all through that airport scene. So good. And speaking of music blending perfectly with the game, the Mexico arrival scene in Red Dead Redemption was just beautiful. Don’t watch it if you’re yet to play RDR, it’ll spoil the surprise.
I’ve always been a huge fan of the “Fall from Grace Theme” from Planescape Torment by Mark Morgan. It captures perfectly the melancholic, mysterious mood of the game.
The Machinarium OST by Tomas Dvorak is amazing. He has also done some lovely tracks as Floex.
Kirill Pokrovsky (who sadly passed away recently) composed a very impressive soundtrack for Divine Divinity. I still listen to it regularly.
Some of my favs:
Ace Attorney:
Bastion:
Starcraft;
DX:Hr:
(original DX is good too, dont have link tho)
The Walking Dead:
Mass Effect:
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines:
Some killer witcher3 dlc goodness,
Heartofstone overall, plot and dialogues, music, characters, was much better than
Bloodandwine imo.
Bethesda put whole Doom ost with Equalizer, Enjoy the masterpiece
