And we have a winner!

I hope this one hasn’t been taken yet. The thread is getting a bit expansive:

“Ex-excuse me! Mr. Featherstonehaugh, I presume?”
“I can’t believe it!”
“Nor can I, Sir!”
“I don’t believe you cannot pronounce my name properly! It’s FANSHAWE!”
“But it - it’s a talking CAT, Sir! It speaks ENGLISH!”
“It’s hardly talking English if it can’t pronounce one’s name. It’s perfectly simple. F - silent E - A - silent T - silent H - silent E - silent R - S - silent T - silent O - N… swap the N and the S - silent E - H - A - U - G - H… HAWE. Faaannnssshhaaawwe.”
“I’m terribly sorry, Mister… Fanshawe… Please accept my sincerest apology.”
“Very well, but don’t let it happen again.”

I remember this dialogue. It’s from The Gene Machine, very early in the game.
The characters are a victim of the gene machine (a cat), the player character (Mr. Featherstonehaugh), and his sidekick/clumsy manservant Mossop.

Correct. Thank you for answering that because I honestly don’t remember much of the game besides this bit and the box art. So it would have been quite difficult for me to give any further hints. Laughing

There’s that scene after they’ve left the ship, when Mossop apologizes for all of his masters clothes that he’s ruined when he got seasick. He really lists them all.

Anyway, here’s a new line for you:
“Symbolic images. Or, ancient graffiti?”

It sounds like a Sam or Max quote.  Is it from The Tomb of Sammun-Mak?

I don’t really rise and shine.  I caffeinate and hope for the best.

I’m sure this is from something I’ve recently played.

I had the same feeling, but I haven’t played that game (yet).

So.. Inspector Waffles?

It’s kind of a long shot on a slight buzz, so let’s see where this goes.

Let’s try an a little bit longer quote from the same game.

“Did you find anything valuable when you first arrived?”
“Valuable?! Well…no. There were a few sheep camped out in the parlor.”
“No hidden passages, compartments…treasures?”
“Pah! You’ve been reading too much Enid Blyton!”

It sounds like a Broken Sword game to me.

The ancient graffiti line was repeated a lot in the game. Smile

Next one:

Mind if I join you?
That’s odd. Is it customary in America to be so forward?
In certain circles it’s not unheard of.
I must have been moving in the wrong circles. I hope you find somewhere to sit.
