Damn I hope the PS3 will be backwards compatible with this game, ofcourse I'm not sure about buying one yet, but it's getting pretty damn tempting.

Both phenomenal good games though, but I rate SotC a little higher.
Well, the fighting in Ico was just a part of the game. In SotC, unless the gameplay changes radically after the first few hours, it's only about fighting.

I wouldn`t say it`s about fighting at all. Yes, it has fighting elements, but the core of the gameplay IMO is the exploring and the puzzle element in how to mount the colossus and eventually how to kill it. The actual fighting is a fairly easy task in itself. I felt I did more "fighting" in ICO than in SotC.

From what I've seen (or heard from my friend), the exploring is really easy at least up to the 5th Colossus.
And yeah, the fighting is a puzzle, but usually actually doing the thing itself is much harder than finding out how to do it. Even when you know where a weak point is, and how to reach it, you can spend half an hour unsuccessfully trying to climb on the stupid giant.

Yep, that`s correct, but some of them requires a fair amount of pathfinding which, if your unlucky, can take up to an hour. But it`s really a question of choosing wether you will race from colossus to colossus, or take your time riding around exploring the beautiful landscape. Me, being an avid explorer, have spent just as much time riding around than actually fighting the colossi.

No, not from my experience. It really depends on the different colossi, but with the most of them, I spent more time figuring out how to mount them, than killing them once I was on them. At one instance, it took me almost an hour the get on, but once that was done, the rest was a piece of cake. But it`s when you get on them the fun really starts, though.

By the way, how many of them are there? (that might be a spoiler, though)

That's not really a spoiler. There was an interview with the developer on Gamespot and I'm pretty sure he said that somewhere in there. Not to mention reviews I've read also say the number.

Oh, good. I though there were only 7 of them, which would have made for a very short (4 hours, I guess) game.

Idlethumbs' review also had that bit of info in there, without spoiler tags!

It would be closer to 7 hours really, coz beating one of these monsters takes in some cases close to an hour.

Not the first ones, in any case. We beat the first three in two hours, and my friends told me that he beat the fourth one in twenty minutes (and he got lost at one point). I expect it gets touger as the game goes on, though...

I`m glad it sells better than ICO did, the makers really deserves it. I`m already looking forward to their next game.

Ninth's always the best.

I need to have myself invited over to my friend's before he finishes the game all by himself...

Last night my friend attempted the final Colossus and it was just too difficult for him at that time. So he gave up. I hope to see him beat it yet!

Ahhh...the final colossus. My favourite. I would go so far as to say that the last colossus is the highlight of my gaming history, no matter what platform or genre. I was playing in the middle of the night, completely dark room, and the speakers up full, and I was just blown away. When it was first presented to me, I got a feeling of fear and awe. The gameplay mixed with the beatiful mystical music gave me an hour of gaming experience I have never felt in any other games.
