Ok, i'll see if I can answer everything.

What I like. I like a lot of different stuff. A lot of classical, but to name off a few bands: Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, The Ramones, Filter, Brand New, AFI, U2, Foo Fighters, Evanescence, Queen, Finch, STP, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Used, the now defunct British punk band Consumed (heard of them??).

I'm not saying I was a fan of their solo work, just of them in general (except, I did like Harrison's solo work - Travel Wilburys helloooooo?).

The only reason the Beatles had a huge impact on music is because everyone bought into the hype and money makes the world go round.

I'm not judging bands based only on their hardcoreness, that has nothing to do with it, and it doesn't threaten my "manhood." I mean, look at one of my playlists:

(Don't be fooled though, the rest of my music is asskicking )
I'm talking about how everyone saw them as "dangerous rockers," when they weren't...at all...they were posers! And damn you, I love ya dude, but Queen IS badass.

I was confused for a bit and thought that you were going to list Algerich, Kissin, Bell, and Fleming as your favorite.

By the way, I just did something that I definitely shouldn't have. I ordered a Bond CD.

I blame Mira for the debacle:

She so deserves some quality spanking.

I regret no album I buy. You see, I usually, you know, listen to a few songs before I buy one. It's not that hard. More people should try it.

Besides, bad rap is hard to come by (Yeah. Right.)

I wouldn't have the song if I didn't like it!!

As for rap...bleah...cept late 80's and early 90's rap! And maybe a lil ODB here and there.

Again I'll stress that this isn't a reason to dislike their music; it's a just a comment on the public perception of them at the time. And really, no one ever thought of them as being "dangerous rockers" as much as you stress — The Rolling Stones were, after all, their contemporaries. The real posers in my book are people like Alice Cooper and Judas Priest. All that macho-aggression is utterly laughable. They just come across as lame.

Everyone including credible artists who baulk at mainstream commercialism. Most of the people you like, for instance, have probably been influenced by them in some way. Heck they even had an effect on Bob Dylan (and vice versa). And speaking of money, all the people on your playlist are money-making products who were spawned and nurtured to fill the pockets of greasy executives.

And on that point, I find your taste incomprehensible. How can Bob Dylan sit along side Evanescence and The Used? It makes no logical sense to me. Oh well, each to their own, I suppose.

Actually, a lot of the people on that playlist (which represents about 12% of my song collection) weren't "products who were spawned" like you said they were. Most of them just love music.

And what the hell do you mean you find my taste incomprehensible? Is it a crime that I like more than one kind of music? Is there a law that says I can either listen to Dylan or Evanescence or The Used, but not all 3? That's retarded to think that it's shocking that I like more than one type of music.

I don't hate The Beatles solely on the fact that they're posers, but I also think their music sucked. And i'd like to see you call AC and JP lame to their faces. If you think rocking is "macho-agression," then you must be a wuss too. I kid of course...I think...

It's not merely that you like more then one type of music, it's that Bob Dylan is the absolute antithesis of these sorts of bands. The Used, for instance, write juvenile angst emo crap (in my opinion), whilst Bob Dylan writes highly-intelligent 'literary' stuff. It just strikes me as odd that someone who likes Bob Dylan would even consider listening to these sorts of bands. In fact, I thought that most Bob Dylan fans (including me) would make a point of not listening to them; in lieu of his impressive canon, this sort of music would seem trivial and shallow — and not in a good way, because the tunes are awful as well. But that's just what first occurred to me upon seeing your list and is only my good ol' opinion.

Just out of interest, what's your favourite Bob Dylan album?

Gladly. I wouldn't have called them posers if I had believed they were hardcore madmen. I mean, Alice Cooper is a mellow conservative for God's sake.

Well, this convo is pointless, because it's all based on personal taste.

Isn't that a tad elitist/close-minded/CRAP? BTW The Used's debut still rawks. Evanescence never did.

I don't believe so. I was just expressing my confusion over seeing such vastly different ends of the pop spectrum side-by-side. Anyway, read my response after that which attempts to explain things better.

Really? The concept sounds absolutely brilliant to me.
Mind selling it to me then?

Ah, ok. I have no problem listening to f$%ked up Dillinger Escape Plan right after Robbie Williams finished singing "Angle". Sugar bread an whip.
