Hahah, this is too embarassing (some that I bought when I was a kid... Oh man...)

But besides those, one that would pop into my mind is Dr.Dre - 2002... I didn't see what songs it had, and I thought it was Dr. Dre's album of some sort, when in fact it was a weird collection of really old school N.W.A. kind of stuff...

Oasis- "(What's The Story) Morning Glory?"
Stone Temple Pilots- "Stone Temple Pilots"
Sponge- "Rotting Pinata"
311- "311"

These CDs had one good song amid a steaming pile of musical poo:
Various Artists- "The Crow-City Of Angels" movie soundtrack
James- "Laid"
The Dandy Warhols- "...The Dandy Warhols Come Down"
Dash Riprock- "Get You Some Of Me"

I always thought Black Market was the best Placebo album... I liked Hail To The Thief too (makes my crappy TV speakers go crazy though).

For years I didn't like my 1425 (or something, that Columbus movie) soundtrack by Vangelis. But recently I listened to it again for the first time since long, and liked it. I don't buy that many cd's, so much of it is well-researched.

I like and still listen to Placebo - Black market music and The Dandy Warhols- "...The Dandy Warhols Come Down". Of course, they are not my favourite albums by these bands, but they have a few great songs dotted about.

Keane - Hopes and Fears, I have no idea what happened, I thought I liked them.

Not really. I liked SSLP and MMLP. Never really listened to TES. I didn't bother buying Encore.

Hole : Celebrity Skin
and probably some others...

No, I'm quite serious. I paid full price for it(!), got it home, listened to it once, and felt like kicking myself. That was almost ten years ago and I haven't listened to it since.
Now I buy all my CDs used, so if I wind up hating them I'm only out two or three bucks.

Got to agree with you there, Scott. Possibly the most overrated album of all time (although I was fortunate enough to learn this before being suckered into a purchase ).

There are plenty I've been less fortunate with, though. One that immediately springs to mind is Daft Punk's Homework - not my thing at all. Don't know what possessed me to buy it.

Most have a good song or two, but:

AC Acoustics - Understanding Music
Olive - Trickle
Polvo - Shapes
Ned's Atomic Dustbin - God Fodder
Black Box Recorder - The Facts Of Life
Air - 10.000 Hz Legend
Cosmo Vitelli - Video
Bis - The New Transistor Heroes
Arab Strap - Elephant Shoe
Galaxfiftyfour - Sleepers Vs. Satellites
Lamb - What Sound (what crap, more like it - though their first two are brilliant)
Deftones - Around The Fur
Ryan Adams - Demolition
David Bowie - Earthling
Mercury Rev - Yerself Is Steam
Spiritualized - Let It Come Down (the worst album ever?)

Oh just die already, that album is pretty good. People still know Don't Look Back in Anger and Wonderwall, and there's other great songs like Hello or Champagne Supernova. Sheesh.

Sparklehorse - Good Morning Spider
Alanis Morisette - Supposed Former Junkie
The Flaming Lips - Fight Test EP
The Outhere Brothers - Party Album (I hope we still have this in the house, actually. I'm off to look)

To clarify - these are bad CDs we've purchased based on previously good experiences of the artist, or just albums that we're embarassed to own because we have since become way too tasteful and classy for them? I only bothered listing the former.

I never said that other people don't enjoy that album, I said I wish I'd never bought it. A lot of people have an (inexplicable to me) appreciation for the musical talents of the Gallagher brothers, but I don't, and I regret the purchase of their album.
I hardly think the fact that you and I have differing tastes in music constitutes a reason for you to call for my untimely demise.
