I do like the contrast between Willy Wonka's *deathly grey* skin, and the colourful surroundings in his factory. -

I know what you mean. The visuals all over the film are pretty striking.
And if I were gay I'd seriously have a crush on Johnny Depp. The guy is great. |

I am not gay and I do have a crush on Johnny Depp!
Seriously, I loved the film and have been quite amazed at part of audience's and critics' dislike towards Depp's performance. I think it was riveting! Yes, his Wonka is out-of-this-world, emotionally screwed, and sometimes downright scary - but that was the point! I won't compare it to the previous Chocolate Factory movie, as I haven't seen it, but I am told that one was much more cutified version of the Dahl's novel.

Saw Rocky 6 today, aka Rocky Balboa. Better way to end the franchise than Rocky V was. Best character development/plot since Rocky II, ie, it was more about the internal struggles than the actual fight. No "eye of the tiger" rock'n'roll moments, no cartoonish Russian bad guys, no brain damage shmaltz. Now, if people can just convince Stallone to stop there, and forget about doing another Rambo....

You should check out the very extensive (and quite entertaining) question-answering he did about Rocky et al on Ain't It Cool News, which, unlike the majority of the content on there, makes for half-decent time-killing. He's nicely self-deprecating in places.

Agreed. I don't really find the original cute at all. Used to freak me out as a kid. The acid boat trip alone...

Cool. I've always liked the Rocky character, maybe because he wrote it...just seems so much more personal to him than other roles. And this movie, like I said, worked because it returned to the simple human drama that made the older ones so good. |

It makes it a pain to read if you leave out capitalisation and punctuation. Punctuation is your friend! >>>And if you use both, the Grammar Nazis will like you too. *grins evilly and fondles a huge wooden mallet*<<< That is Jazhara666, my evil twin and leader of the Grammar Nazi Mallet squad. >>>All grammatical miscreants shall be punished.<<< But don't worry, my dear Foster Angeldragon child Iggy is keeping her on a short leash. Everything alright, Iggy? "Yes, Mommy, ma'am!" So don't worry, and remember to use your grammar. It really is your friend. Oh, and before I forget to mention, I am also the supreme ruler of this planet, the Looney Empress Jazhara Ludkhanna Walborgd Seveen the First of the World. But that does not concern you too much, unless you are a grey squirrel trying to destroy humanity, in which case I challenge you to a fight to the death, with nothing but our bare claws and teeth as weapons! Welcome to the forums, guyver! -

Hey, shouldn't that be a semicolon instead of a comma? What kind of grammar nazi are you?!
Oh, and to bring this thread back on topic, never EVER watch this movie.

I just watched Borat. I haven't laughed so much at a film in ages, it was great.
Oh, she won't be a problem anymore, I had her sent on a special little train journey... One way you understand...

The Black Dahlia, which was very cool, if a little disappointing in the end in terms of the mystery. Very good cast. The style was very fitting, offputting to reflect the strange nature of the time, definitely gave the impression something was off.
V for Vendetta, mainly because Stephen Fry was in it, it was quite disappointing, like Equilibrium, a bit weak at the moments where it should be strong. Lucky Number Slevin, that was funny, clever, and short (in this case a good thing). While it might not be great, it was perfect in what it did. X-Men 3, great special effects, mutants, but the stories haven't done anything for me. Most of the characters are really good though.
