For some reason, I actually enjoy the Christmas season, seeing as everyone and everything around me is so happy. I find this infectious. Plus, it usually means a reasonably-sized vacation on my part, and vacations always add to my happiness.

Yes, but I don't always get what I choose. I don't expect my parents to buy me everything I ask for, so I compile a Christmas List every year, and see how much of it comes true. It always makes me feel happy to know that my parents do their best to make our Christmas holidays as special as they can.

I haven't made a Christmas list, as such, since I was about 8. Once you become fairly sure it isn't really a letter going off to Santa, it just starts to feel greedy.
Giving presents is a lot more fun than getting them, as far as I'm concerned. My main prezzie to Colin is a whopping big MP3 player, which he already knows about. He wanted something he can stuff all his CDs on at once, and then some. It's sitting on the coffee table, and he's looked at it, but will refrain from using it until Christmas. I've charged it up for him, and installed the software on his laptop, so it's all ready for him. I've also got him a few surprise bits of software for Christmas morning, which I hope will encourage him to learn how to use said laptop. I don't think he's actually bought anything to give me yet (we've both been ill, and the car's being repaired). I've gone through the Mindware catalogue with a highlighter pen, but I don't think he got the hint... My Myst Ultimate Collection might well arrive just in time to be counted as a Christmas present. |

I have some disappointing news to tell you all.
My mom called me at my apartment about half an hour ago. We were having some nice talk about how our day went today, and then later on we started talking about the christmas shopping we are going to do for our relatives when they come to visit us for Christmas. My mom told me that she and dad will not be getting an X-Box 360 for me as a present because it is going to be too expensive to buy. I was disappointed to hear about that, but at the same time, I had a feeling that that was going to happen. Instead, mom wants this Christmas to be a great experience for my three nieces, Serena, Jordan, and Maya, so we are going to try to focus on that. Sure, I will be getting a few presents, but not an expensive gaming console machine like the X-Box 360. However, she said that if I still want to buy the X-Box 360 next year, she will help me save my money until I can afford it. I think I will consider thinking about doing that. So, overall, I am disappointed that I won't be getting an X-Box 360 for Christmas, but I'm not very sad about it, either. Tomorrow, I am going to start doing my Christmas Shopping on Amazon.com, because I have an account on their Web Site. |

By the way, Mr. Undeaf, as I said in my reply to your earlier post, the short answer is yes, but not always eveything.

Don't be sad about THAT. Like they say: What you own ends up owning you. Here's mine: - A box full of sharp objects - A copy of World Of Warcraft - A six months suscription to World Of Warcraft - A life, but then, that's what at least two out of the three other presents mentioned above would be for guys like us, don't you think...?

I jotted down a list of Steampunk themed stuff on my list to Santa this year.
Jules Verne books (wouldn't it be grand if the Secret Adventures of Jules Verne was available on DVD). The Last Exile anime series, some second hand books (from a list including The Scar, The Prestige, Nomad in the Timestreams, Pasquale's Angel, The Hungry City Chronicles, and others). And some music akin to that featured in Troika's Arcanum (Works by the Kronos Quartet, Sountrack to The Red Violin and Schubert's Death and the Maiden among others). I'm trying to avoid (unsuccessfully) buying myself the Horatio Hornblower collection DVD set. Its not quite on theme but I do love em so. Oh, and Geneforge 4 by Spiderweb software |

Played any Thiefs lately? I forgot to add: - a ticked to Mein FĂĽhrer. OMFG Helge Schneider doing The FĂĽhrer... genius. The first reviews haven't been very positive, though. Of course it doesn't seem to be Doc Snyder's fault. Despite this outrageous move of genius in casting, the script is said to be too chicken. Sigh... Still a must see for me.

Isn't that a porn book? I mean, sure, you're obviously an Alan Moore fan, but even so!- I'd think that's the sort of thing you ought to be embarrassed to get, not the sort of thing you ask for.

I'm going to try to find a reasonably inexpensive Fairbairn-Sykes stiletto commando knife for my military antiques collection.

From what I've read it's not really that erotic, and I've already told my mom what it's about. She was actually interested in seeing it, not so much for the pornographic aspects of it but for the oil paintings. In any case, my mom has always been aware of my peculiar fascinations; I once tried to buy a book on erotic art at a used book store and she wouldn't let me at the time, and some of the art I produced in high school dealt with erotic themes.

I don't mean this as patronising, but the art is very reminiscent of children's books (appropriate I guess given the main characters). Quote:

I'm in Florida, so no worries. And I've seen the art myself and liked it quite a bit.
