They're adults, not children. Alice is 50 something and Dorothy is like 19 or 20. Wendy is married to Peter and appears to be in her 30s or 40s. The outcry of child porn relates to the use of famous childrens stories characters (and the odd risque flashback - nothing hardcore).

::shrug:: I don't really see what the big deal is. I'm not having my parents buy "porn" because I don't really consider it "porn" (and I don't think anyone else does, either).

Now that's insight.

Alan Moore, who really ought to know better than you considering he wrote the book, describes it as "pornography".

Here's one relevant bit of an interview which makes it very clear, repeatedly, that it is porn they are dealing with:

There's no reason why it shouldn't be arousing and yet also be talking about important issues, about serious human things.
Now, whether it's intellectual or not, I have a very hard time believing that your mother would knowingly buy you porn. More likely she doesn't realize what she's been asked to get you for Christmas. And yes, that's more than a little disturbing.

It's nothing new that an artist doesn't reveal much insight into his own material. As I was saying earlier I've read some of the book, and yes many of the scenes in it are sexual in nature, but I never found it titillating and I never got the feeling it was meant to be titillating...therefore I don't consider it "porn." But just to make you guys comfortable I'll make sure mom realizes it's the same book we were talking about earlier, and if she doesn't like the idea I'll change it to Absolute Sandman v.1 or something.

You're making it sound like we're all trying to persecute you. That's not my intention, I'm just expressing my opinion/reaction, not trying to push you into an awkward situation.

I'm pretty sure that's enough to make it illegal in some places.

The only flashback I saw (I've not read the whole thing) was of Dorothy recalling a good frig. At what age I don't know, late teens? I'm past caring really .. Maybe start a new thread about outrage over a book we've not seen and we can post there.
