What I've been watching lately:

Supernatural, season 4: I just ordered the DVD boxset, It hasn't arrived yet but I watched the first 2 episodes of the season with a friend and HATED it. It's my favorite non-animated show still airing (like marte I'm a sucker for supernatural stuff) since Galactica but I hated the direction they took with those 2 episodes.

South Park, season 14: Great start of season although the seventh episode was a bit weaker than the rest.
Spoiler:
The return of Scott Tenorman made me scream HELL YEAH at the monitor and You Have 0 Friends was my favorite episode so far.

Dead Like Me, complete series: I watched the whole series including the film in the last months. A lot of very inspired episodes, some very weak and a lot of inconsistencies and disregard for the series mythology in some. I wonder how much better the series could be if Bryan Fuller had more involvement as this series, although good doesn't come close to Wonderfalls.

Sam & Max: Freelance Police, complete series: Surprisingly good series for an old fox kids show. Sam's voice is a bit strange and the Geek character can be annoying but it's a fun short series to watch.

Friends, complete series: I watched a couple of episodes before going to sleep every day for the past 6 or 7 weeks. I used to love the series when I was younger but It's fun today.

Passione, local soap opera: I'm not a soap fan but It's a thing I and my mother can do together at night so I watch this occasionally. As far as soap operas go, this one is very good.

I'm so glad the series was finally released on DVD! I really like this show, it's a different kind of wacky than the games or the comics. It took me a while to get used to Sam's voice, mainly because the actor is currently best known to Canadians as the announcer in the Leon's commercials, like this one.

Cool commercial! I've gotten used to his voice as Sam eventually too.

Just finished watching first season of Game of Thrones on HBO. It's a mediaval fantasy series based on a book by George R. R. Martin. I absolutely loved the show, I couldn't wait for another episode to come. Name: bliss.gif

Book 5 (A Dance with Dragons) gets released soon (12th July). Only had to wait 6 years for him to write the bugger.

Just started watching Modern Family - which is very good. Reminds me of Arrested Development, in how its intelligent with a wide-range of styles of humour used that compliment each other.
Also, there are attractive women in it.

If there's still someone out there who hasn't seen The Flight of the Conchords (especially season 1) they're missing out on so much! I just can't stop watching it

Really, without a doubt, one of the best TV shows ever to be made. There's no excuse for not watching it. Absolutely none.

I'm really not sure what I'm going to watch soon though. I hear 30 Rock is doing its last season, I'm not sure if we'll be getting any Curb Your Enthusiasm here (I just saw it for the first time last year, now I'd like to see the early seasons), and pretty much all the rest I'm watching are reruns (Flight of the Conchords, for example). And while some shows like Friends can take rerun after rerun, most do get rather dull after a couple.

I think there's going to be Modern Family on some channel here, so I'll have to check it out if I notice when (and where) it starts...

You know, Hugh Laurie should stop already with the House stuff and get back to the top-notch stuff he used to do. Without a doubt among the funniest comedians ever, and A Bit of Fry & Laurie was easily amongst the funniest sketch shows ever (like I just said last page). Another show everybody should has to see, and especially any English comedy fan / Anglophile (Fantasy, I'm looking at you).

I never read the books until watching the show but I do intend to read them now.
I just don't know if I should read only the first book now and then watch the second season in spring or read the second book also and therefore spoil watching the show.
But I don't know if I can wait until spring to see what happens next.

Darn it such a hard decision

Who me?! Yeah, I'm not much into stand-up comedey sketches like that. I love characters and story, and usually skits have different characters. I never did like Monty Pyhton...*hangs head*

That's alright, my other favorite tv shows that are British make up for that lack.

After your post I decided to check out Modern Family. I have to agree that it's not bad, but it's nowhere near the complexity and hilarity of AD. I'm six episodes in, and it's a fine, heartwarming family tale, but all it's got in common with AD is the "family" part.

EDIT: If I were to compare MF with other shows, it'd probably be Parks & Recreation. It's pretty much exactly the same (except with less giant breasts).

I'd agree with most of what you say, in terms of lacking the complexity of AD. I'm also enjoying it more as it's progressing through the series, it seems to get a lot more 'confident' (I sometimes felt it wasn't sure what kind of show it wanted to be early on, if that makes sense).

I've not seen Parks & Recreation - might have to check that out, as well as Community, which has been recommended by a friend recently.
Americans have been doing some very good comedy recently, I have to say.

That's good to hear, I'll stick with MF then. Parks & Recreation suffered the same confidence issues in the first season actually, so don't judge it by the first episodes. Oh, and you absolutely have to watch Community, it's the most heartwarming of them all. And yeah, comedy seems to be strong right now on TV with P&R, Community, Louie, Curb, Sunny and Archer, all excellent shows.

I've also been clinging to my tv- er...computerscreen the last 10 weeks. Without a doubt, best tv series I've ever seen! It will be such a long wait till season 2. I'm definittely gonna read the first book because if I am to believe the HBO messageboards there's a lot of backstory and scenes in the book that wasn't shown. After that well, really hard. I guess I'll just decide what you decide so no pressure

I've got a new obsession, even though it's an old TV show. It's called "Soap", and it makes fun of soap operas. It's so hilarious, with lots of laugh-out-loud moments that are rare today. The characters are amazing and lovable, and I freakin' love this show. Just wish that the fanbase hadn't of died out, I have no one to squee with. :/

Jodie is love, and Chester didn't do it!!

Good god, where on earth did you come across that Fantasy. That is an old one. Absolute classic though. The recaps (that bear little relation to previous events) and the next time's (likewise) were my favourite parts but it was all good.

A local TV station is playing them on Sundays, and my mom wanted to rewatch them. I fell in love. The recaps are funny, and how they keep using a certain word for everything. Confused? You won't be!

I've not watched Soap, but from what I've heard about it - you might quite like Arrested Development. I'm currently undergoing my periodical rewatches of it and have reached the stage where I feel the urge to recommend it whenever an appropriate moment comes along.

It's unbelievably good, and I have high hopes for the upcoming film version.

Oh my God...the series 2 finale of "Sherlock" was by far the best episode of any TV show I have ever seen, hands down.

The last 20 minutes really made it for me, the angst, THE ANGST!!! I was balling my eyes out by the end, it was beautiful.

Dave's Old Porn
It's like Mystery Science Theater but with, you guess it, vintage porn.

...No (!) I'm not ashamed cause it's freaking hilarious! aaand cause the more hardcore parts are censored by the damn couch.

Here's a sneak peek (a great philosophical discussion):
