It's Christmas Eve and I'm still sick. I don't think I'm going to be cooking Mom's turkey this year. I may just go lay down and watch Farscape. I'm not sure my head is focussed enough to play a game right now.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas, unless they've already celebrated something else or are looking forward to another cultural event instead. I've been giving serious thought to Cephalopodmas, myself, but I suspect my wife would have trouble getting time off for it.

Maybe I'll try the Christmas Quest games. I never did actually play them, which I've always felt odd about.

Awww, Jelena. We will most certainly chat on here, because I love talking to you, what little we have, my friend, if dare I say it! lol

Hammerite-why thank you! When I read the review, I fell in love, and I've requested the first book from my local library, along with "The Dark Half" since the computer game is supposed to suck big time. lol When I read that it had all those British actors, like Baldrick from Black Adder, I went *squee*-ing throughout the house. I haven't seen a character react to you not doing anything since "The Lost Mind of Doctor Brain", and the plot totally grabbed my attention, even though I don't like comedy games. The satirical nature and the topic were perfect, and I so hope the price will go down!!

Do Dos Box games run just like regular games so you don't notice a difference?

It would run an adventure game just fine, though if you want to try something more demanding then expect extreme jerkiness to the max.

What would be more demanding? Like would Gabriel Knight or Amber be fine?

Well, I did some artwork for the third game, if that gives you any incentive. (Incidentally, working on CQ3, which featured artwork drawn by several different people, is partly what inspired me to write DREAMING later that year.)

In other news, I'm still sick, but slowly getting better, which is a good thing, since I'm currently surrounded by lots and lots of family.

They'd probably be fine, when I said demanding I was having memories of playing 'System Shock' and 'Alone in the Dark' on there and watching how slow it got as I became suurounded by enemies *shudders*.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, Y'ALL!

You haven't written a bio. Do you want me to write one for you?

And that is the punishment for allowing yourself to get surrounded.

I didn't have these problems on either game but I'm running DOSBox on a fairly meaty machine. I seem to recall that there is a rough guide of what sort of actual machine you need to emulate different era machines in the manual somewhere. It's emulating the hardware that slows the games down most.

I will get around to playing them. Still haven't, but I'm still housebound, so it's only a matter of time. And I hope you're feeling better, hon. *hugs*

Lee- I've actually heard of a game based on "Farscape" with the characters, although I think it might be a shooter and I heard it was quite horrible in every aspect!!!

Well, I'm at the sporadic coughing fits phase right now, which is a good sign. Still surrounded by crazy family members, though.

And *hugses*.

This morning I was with my mother in the kitchen. From upstairs we heard: 'couch COUGH Wroar hughhughughugh ggnnnnrrrrrr waf!!', the typical sounds of my father in a coughing fit. My mother said to me in a loving voice: 'Oh, your father is up already!'

Ah yes, the lovely sounds made by someone scaling the treacherous heights of Mount Wannahockaloogie. It's just not morning without them.

I've been experiencing that a lot myself lately, although it's more often nasal congestion.
