Ooh, how could I forget 'alot' and 'alright'?! It really used to bug the heck out of me when people typed that in forums and message boards, but I just let it go nowadays, considering their casual and informal nature. (Misspelling it is still regrettable, though. ) But to me, official documents or correspondence really lose credibility when I spot 'alot' and other misspelled words. And why does 'alright' keep appearing in movie, book and song titles so often???

I was oot 'n' aboot last week in 'Charonna', ayup. No one missed me, eh???

I will not use "radical" to mean cool.

I've been known to say "this requires a radical solution" though, and got mocked irregardless.

Argh! It's "all right", people!! Not "alright"!!! Similar word smushings like "alot" also drive me bonkers.
'Alright' is a greeting over here, just another way of saying 'hey, how's it going?', whenever I've seen it written it's always been like that.

You should listen to a geordie saying 'subsequently', it comes out a little differently! (Geordie = person from Newcastle for non-UK people).

I love all kinds of British accents. Please Seebise hot stud (! ) make a recoring for me would you!
I actually watch Emerdale regurarely just to hear their accent and expressions. I don't care much for the 'soapish' story. Just a lot of intriguing and yelling.
I especially like the way the say 'have tea' when they're about to eat dinner.

Hehe, Stepurhan's gonna get jealous if you call me hot stud! I don't have a microphone on my PC, but I guess I could make a recording on my Archos and stick it on my PC. I wouldn't know what to say though

Don't worry Lena, there's no risk of misinterpretation - I know you're hot for my body

Well, I won't be back at my home PC til Sunday, but if I remember I'll make some sort of random recording and post it up here. And you know me, it won't be filthy at all.

Oh, here's one I forgot. People who misspell "expatriate" as "ex-patriot."

That one really gets on my nerves.

I hate when people pronounce twat as "twot."

Words I hate to hear hmmm let's see:

XBOX 360: or any thing related to it(X360, XBOX, Internet Exploer, Microsoft, MS, Bill Gates)

Next generation (when used in gaming): Generations take 20 to 30 years to change, not 4 years.
Next gen: Next gen this, next gen that. This is a next gen game (and it looks ugglier than all of the "previous" generation ones).
*runs*: Everyone overuses this joke in threads, and it's getting old.

Is there another way to pronounce that word?

It's pronounced as it's written, twat rhymes with hat.

They talk't of his having a Cardinalls Hat
They'd send him as soon an Old Nuns Twat

I've never ever heard it pronounced that way, even by an Englishman. Perhaps that pronunciation is peculiar to the area where you live. Either way, it's a word I don't use. On the rare occasions when I need to make reference to that particular subject, I prefer the term "hoo-hoo".

That is the universal British pronunciation of the word, as can be evidenced by Robert Browning's (mis)use* of the word in his 1841 poem "Pippa Passes."

Then owls and bats
Cowls and twats

Now I'm confused, in South Park Mrs Cartman says "The man puts his hoo-hoo-dilly into the woman's cha-cha" but if the woman has the hoo-hoo...

* He thought a twat was an item of clothing, after misinterpreting the line about the nun I quoted in my last post, from the 1660 satirical poem, "Vanity of Vanities."
