I think the 1st adventure game I properly played was Broken Sword 1 on PS. But I have been playing some old games like monkey island-1 and Gabriel Knight with my cousin. Actualy he was playing and i was hinting and advising. I have done that with him couple of other games. If my hands on mouse or joy pad dont count, than my 1st game would be monkey island.

Either Scott Adam's Pirate Adventure (I'm not sure if that is the correct name, the one where you say 'YOHO' near the begining), or a text adventure dad typed into the system from the BASIC source in a book or magazine.

Both on our dear departed TI 99/4a. A wonderful system.

Hey, me too! I was going to say The Loom, but then you reminded me of my pre-PC days. I also played a bunch of text adventures (The Hobbit had these great graphics, first drawn then colour filled), but I don't recall any titles but Lord of the Rings, which included a paperback edition of vol 1 of the book. I got badly stuck in Moria, unfortunately (and so did my Amstrad, it kind of hung around those caves).

Hmmm very long ago, Well ROVER! I dunno if that is adventure or not ,then comes a very weird horrish game about a guy in flatline (dying) and experiencing weird events -I am yet to remember the name till this day- then came sanatarium and monkey island and a game about investigating murder called somthing death, and Inca II, and another game in space ?, and another game about a detective asking questions. Yeah thats basicly my start, many many years ago, which one was the frist to follow rover I have no idea

I remember playing Monkey Island and Day Of The Tentacle when i was i think 8, So i think Monkey Island was the first. At least the first i can remember. Broken Sword was the first i serieusly played, back in 1997 or 1998. I rented it at the liberary and i loved it from the moment i installed it. Unfortunally there was a big damaged spot on the cd, so i never got beyond the hospital. Man was i pissed. I searched for the game i think 1 or 2 years, when i found it by accident when shopping for school supplies. So it actually was a present from my parents without them knowing about it . God that's a good game. Best instalation procedure i've seen to date.

Default Myst

Myst ... until then I thought my options were just Mario Brothers or Shoot to Kill stuff. Myst opened the gaming world for me.

Technically, my first adventure was The Black Cauldron on a apple 2e. I had to have been only 6 or 7 at the time so it didn't have much of a lasting impact on me. I just wandered around a few screens and went back to playing with my hot wheels.

It wasn't until I played Hugo's House of Horror's on a 386 a few years later that I appreciated the gameplay of genre.

Myst, quickly followed by The 7th Guest, on a brand new, blazing fast Pentium 75 w/ 16megs of memory sealed the deal and I never looked back.

The first Adventure game I played was “Lure of the Temptress” when I was about 7 or 8. It took me a couple of days just to get past the first part.

I forget if I already answered this question... I believe it was either Neuromancer or Maniac Mansion... I think it was the latter.

King's Quest 1, on a computer at a summer camp, if that makes any sense (this would have been at some point in the late 80s). That's my oldest memory anyway.

The Dig, at age 8.

Spoiler:
What better way to scar a kid for life than cutting off Brink's hand?
